So, yeah, they have screw on tops...not corks.

But we have tried to no avail to get 2 different wine bottles open here.

Any suggestions?

I have to use one of those plastic round things that go over the whole screw top and then twist it off. I even need it for sodas now, thanks to my arthritis. I can't open anything!

Wondering about the "plastic round things" sign is referring to.

As for the pliers...hmmmm....I guess I'd have to be pretty dang strong to need to worry about breaking the bottle, huh?

seriously tho get a small flat head screwdriver and slip it under the little ring on the bottom that usually stays on the bottle pry that off and the top should open

We'll have to give the screwdriver &/or the pliers a try tomorrow.
Much to tired now to deal with it....but I HAD to ask for hints.
This burden has been upon us all week!

if you use a screw driver or something like that to lift it off.,be careful of your eyes.,in case the tool slips.,.,safety first

I just use an old fashioned nut cracker...pliers have compound leverage and could chip the glass if you are not careful...YMMV.....

When I was young I simply used to find a wall and smash the neck off. Hope that helps.

I just can't imagine something
like this going on ALL WEEK!!

I'd have had those bottles back
to the shop to have the seller
demonstrate or trade 'em in.

or

Ah geez ... See?
I REALLY NEED that wine bottle/
wine glass emotie I've been whining
about.

That plastic thing, Miss.... If I
know what sign is talking about ...
It's kinda rubbery, flat, circular....
'bout the size of your open hand...
You grab the top/lid with it &
twist... It's real grabby.

and it is OBVIOUSLY too early in the morning
with not enough coffee for me to be posting

but

I'm posting this anyway.

(Making mental note: If visiting MissLiss
be sure to bring tried & true bottles of wine
or at least one of those rubbery bottle top
grabber/opener thingies)

I'm not going to bother looking it up...

I think that round rubber thing, at least the way Jen describes it, was marketed by Ronco as "The Cap Snaffler."

Okay... you know me by now... Here it is:

I got one of those cap snaffler thingies (but different brand) free at a Pampered Chef party. They really help!
