Weve all seen old b&w photographs of people but few are ever smiling. Why?

Because the good old days weren't so good. People got sick more often, died quicker, and half of them weren't allowed to vote.

Dental care was practically non-existent. Would you smile?

Dental care was practically non-existent. Would you smile? I think we have a winner.

Maybe all those "good 'ol days" of working sunup to sundown, going to sleep with the chickens and getting up with the roosters, eating dried out biscuits 3 times a day, having to sit in a claustophobic wooden closet with all the aromatics that goes with a 1 or 2 seater, not to mention....no Internet! That would piss me off too.....

The "Stoic Look" was the fashionable in-thing. Maybe people thought it made them look more appealing. Maybe they were distressed about the photographer's fees. Maybe they were upset about having to sit still for long periods of time while getting bit by red ants as the camera man setup his film plates.

Some people after saying something contradictory to someone else they end it with two words..."just sayin". Ive never used the term so my question is....why? Is it a way to appear innocent for being an ass or did they just have something to say while having nothing else to do but say it?
