Okay, over in D&R I started a thread called Super Direct Contact about this woman I met last night in a bar who was a NY State Trooper.
So, I find out what she does for the Troopers, and she says "In in the Trailer Park Division."
"What?" I say. "I go to trailer parks and arrest people," she replies.
Apparently, there is a special division and training for dealing with people in trailer parks.
This is just too much.
Was she pulling my leg around my neck?

There is such a unit.
It is part of the same division {?) that you see at the truck weigh stations.
Their primary role is that of "inspector" (the duty, not the rank} and they are looking for "violations" - in the case of trailer parks, probably limited to those that are mobile rather than stationary.
They have the same powers of arrest as any NYST but rarely have the need to exercise them.
In the "olde days," a policewoman was known as a "house mouse." They rarely left the precinct, did the typing and filing, tidied up the captain's office, and maybe did his laundry too. Their firearm seldom left its box - never mind a holster.

'Trailer Park Trash'
I agree... I would be quite offended if I lived in a trailer park.
Now, THERE'S an excellent topic for a thread.
Hmmmm... I wonder what title I will give it?

Personally, I'm quite fond of the term… "trailer park trash". Course my favorite would have "white" attached, as it once did, but being politically correct has taken precedence now day. I've lived in a trailer park since 1975 and purchased the place as my retirement home. I simply couldn't see giving thousands and thousands upon thouands of my hard earned dollars to bankers for a huge expensive home so many years... just to sell and buy manufactured home for retirement anyway. I'm "one" babyboomer that knew what was coming. I'm VERY happy with my retirement decision... which is "less" than $300/mo. (grinning)
Call me anything you wish... matters not to me... a happy heart is a happy heart... (smile)

They make some really beautiful trailors. sunk in living rooms, pull out walls, Jacuzi tubs and even the double deckers are neat.

Troopers hang out on the Interstate.
Security guards hang out at trailer parks.
Sure she's a trooper?

never ever looked down upon people who owned trailers. I still think they are smarter than home owners who have huge mortgages vs. having a trailer paid off in 10 yrs or less. My high school friend rented to own a trailer and the place was double wide and roomer than most homes I've visited. If it works for you and you enjoy alot more income monthly go for it.

Living in the Midwest, it seems to me that trailer parks are tornado magnets.
Or are tornadoes the gods way of saying "don't live in trailers"?

LOL! When I lived in southern Maryland, St. Mary's county, there were special units that dealt with the tailer parks there, especially around the Lexington Park area where the Patuxent Naval Air Base is...it was like an urban ghetto both in appearance and in the quality of the residents...others were nice and clean, never a problem. One other area for special Trailer Park Units were around Fayetteville,NC; again a military area...and for Tornados...saw them ripped apart and blown tumbling over the highways and roads, with everyone and everything spilling out of them; what a way to live....no thanks!
