amazing how many men are in Africa working building bridges. and 'funny' how all these men have children but haven't seen them in YEARS...and funny how they are also being paid HUGE amounts of money but always looking for someone to help them out to cash in all their money....
you'd think by now they would come up with another stupid idea..like maybe over in the Sahara Desert building an Ark!
ok, one time i wrote to this guy-knowing all too well what he was up to...then when he asked for money..i told him i was losing my house and couldn't afford to do anything right now. he said he would sign his entire salary over to me..if i would only give him my bank account...hmmm, lets see...
i don't think so. i then told him i knew he was trying to scam me and once again..he denied it. i continued asking him why they do this to people. he said it was for money. he can't get a job so he 'works' on peoples willingness to help others out. he admitted that at this 'hotel' where he stays (in Nigeria) there were atleast a dozen others that were doing the same thing. all trying to scam (MOSTLY americans) people out of money for their living. when i asked him about all the 'stories' he had told me about his wife suddenly dying in a car crash...and his children...none of it was true (duh!! like i would believe them anyways?) again i asked WHY they go to such extremes to make all these stories up-and all are the same...wife dies in tragic accident, have kids but haven't seen them for a long time, then their job....
he added that if one person allows them access to their bank account...they won't have to work for a LONG time...
sooo THAT was the thing...to get a HUGE hit so they don't have to work.
i asked him if he had ever gotten anyone to allow them access to their account and since he was 'new' he said not yet...OMG!! his friend had 2 american accounts he was drawing money on.
i just can't see all the 'glory' in doing all this....
he said it isn't glory...but knowing you have an income coming in...
i turned his name in and he said all he was going to do is change profile names and start again...

I have done a lot of research on these scammers. Yes, they do drain your bank accounts (if you allow them to do it and are uneducated....there's two sides to every story...YOU NEED TO EDUCATE YOURSELF), but sociologically I have found that it's driven not by greed....but by need. They don't really know how else to get money. It doesn't make what they do right, at all, and people need to educate themselves more about the signs of a scammer and make sure they avoid it, but I think it's also important to look at the reasons why these people do this (especially young women who have children and were abandoned....especially in places like Romania and the Ukraine) and not look upon them with hatred, but with sympathy. It's important to stay away from them, though. Just educate yourselves on how to avoid them but at the same time remember that they are lost, feel hopeless, and feel like they are doing it out of necessity.
It's a very wrong thing to do, though.
