Here we go. Lets talk about places we have travelled, or would like to travel.
ROME!!! Loved it. Would go back tomorrow if I could. One of the biggest attractions of the "the eternal city" is the Pantheon. The Pantheon is a temple which was built in the early 2nd century AD (before the year 150) and it is unbelievable. Search google for pictures, but I can assure you they will not do it justice. You need to stand next to one of the giant columns out front, or stand under the giant oculus (hole) in the center of the ceiling to really understand the magnificence of this place.
On the front of the building is an inscription in Latin shorthand, it reads.....
M·AGRIPPA·L·F·COS·TERTIVM·FECIT
which translates to.... Marcus Agrippa, son of Lucius, Consul for the third time, had this made.
Rome......ahhhhhhh

One of my co-workers just returned from Italy and said the same thing about the Pantheon. I loved sitting across from the Pantheon in one of the wine bars and watching the supporters of the restoration of the monarchy staging one of their rallies.

Gunn - I think Maui's the most stunningly beautiful place I've ever seen. The waterfalls spilling down through the volcanic rocks that are covered with incredibly lush greenery are nothing short of spectacular. You can enjoy your hulas, but don't ignore the fire dancers - I hope you get to attend a luau with both!
For me, now that I've had a long-delayed introduction to 'primitive' camping, I just want more of the same (but my arthritic bones insist on it's being summertime). Getting a chance to see an eagle catching her babies' dinner and watching her teach them was truly a privilege and greedy as I am, I want more of it!!

Yeah, Hawaii would be awesome!! I would love to give surfing a shot.
I loved sitting across from the Pantheon in one of the wine bars There are some nice restaurants/bars around in the Piazza Della Rotunda (where the Pantheon is), but what was remarkable to me was what was directly across the piazza, staring right at the front of the Pantheon.........ur not going to believe it.......................McDonalds.
Wow Heaven, that would be so cool to watch the eagles. We had a few nesting at a lake here in Texas several years ago, me and my buddy would ride in a boat and watch them with binoculars. Majestic.
I am with you on the primitive camping. I love it!!

Backpacking in the Grand Canyon was terrific! There is always a view. The perspective literally changes with each switchback... The sense of geological history is awesome and our 50 to 100 years on this earth is relatively a blink...
Machu Picchu is my dream trip. So, who wants to take me to the mountaintop?

I'm with Lacy.Ive never made a more interesting trip then then the 6 mile hike to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, camping overnight and then the climbing back out the next day. If you go its great hiking weather in January and you avoid the problem of heat exhaustion other times of the year. If a 50 year old smoker can make it...so can you.
PS- Make plans a year or two in advance to stay at the Phantom Ranch along the Colorado River. I was very tempted to pay the $100 fine for not returning our rented tent. I packed it going down and sure didnt want to haul it out on the way back up.
My next trip will either be fishing in Canada,a trip thats on my boy for putting him through college,or I would like to take a train from Wisconsin to Alaska and then a cruise trip from Alaska to San Fransisco.

Alaska and Hawaii are my 2 dream trips. When I retire (next year) and become a millionaire (never!)! LOL I'm not much for flying so over seas trips are pretty much out.

Quite a bit of places.... too many to mention in the forums.
Lately, I've traveled from my living room to the bathroom to take a leak.

The only place outside of the States I have traveled is Canada.. twice. First time was in downtown Toronto...we stayed at an apartment close to downtown and I loved it!! We shopped at open shops during the day and at night there were jazz festivals and so many other things to do.
Second time I went to the Thousand Island area.. beautiful scenery.. very peaceful and restful time at a friends house.
Ireland is the place I want to go. .not sure I will ever make it except in my dreams

This past sommer, I went to Jamestown and Williamsburg, Va. I had a good time. I went to Cherokee, NC Indian reservation a few weeks later and also went to Maggie Vally, "Ghost town in the sky". The next weekend, I went to Writesville beach, NC. This summer, I hope to go to Walnut grove, Minn. The homestead of Laura Ingalls Wilder.

I've been to Indonesia, the Philipines, South East Asia, Florida, Georgia, Alabama.....I sang Sweet Home Alabama...how could I not? Michigan UP & LP....too cold there for me, Texas and Mexico and most recently New Zealand which is a bit closer to home. Those 20 hour flights suck ass
My daughter's going to be in Poland from February so I'd like to meet up with her in June and maybe do a few countries. I have enough frequent flyers points to get to South Africa (which would be awesome) Thailand, Los Angeles, or I could waste them on domestic flights here in Aussie which I'm not inclined to do.
I'd also like to go to Spain and Hawaii. Or anywhere warm, with a beach, and a slave to bring me drinks and food and sunblock.
