If you like puzzes and detective things.. then maybe youll like this one.

My mothers uncle emmigrated to Canada in 1925 aged 22.

After that he kept in touch with my grandmother, but after she died, all letters, phone numbers and addresses were lost.

BUT we did find some photos of their house in Canada.

>>pictures of house<<

To be able to find out if there are any surviving family there, we first need to know where this is to know where to start looking.

The photos dont give up much, but they have trees and flowers that maybe a clue to the area. On the back of the snow pic it has written..
'Christmas eve, the snow will stay until April"

I dont know if that is of any clue at all.

Can anyone help me in this puzzle?

Im no professional, but I think you would have better luck researching names rather than these pics. From looking at the pics, I was able to narrow it down to anywhere in Canada or anywhere in the northern US.

You might try Ancestry.com. In addition to census data, they also track ship manifests. In all likelihood, your uncles immigrated to Canada by boat rather than by plane in 1925.

I don't see any mountains at all...SO I would say the prairies....Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba? They all have long winters and flat landscapes. Good luck.

Trying to find them before was very hard as I needed where, to go with my name, as there was millions with the same name.. BUT

Using the info from this forum and the answers given, I was able to find them.

Using ancestry from East's idea and the area its most likely to be with Fendy;s idea..

I typed in their names and the Manitoba area she suggested and up they came.

Way to go!

You guys are great!!!

Charli, check out friends reunited too, you never know you might find some younger relatives.

That's what I did. I put in a search for surnames, and found six of my cousins in Canada.

Be wary of any sites where you have to pay for.

The best sites are the ones set up for free by genuine family members; I found another cousin on one of those too.
