My birthday is Saturday and last year I had this great guy who whisked me off to the beach to be wined and dined and treated like a princess.
This year the same Prince became Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and I had to call it good. All the offline friends I had prior to him have made matches of their own and so here I am with no plans now and only a few days.
Any suggestions? My kids won't be with me either because it is their Dad's weekend.
Also, remember me tomorrow as I have to go into the hospital for some tests to be run and I am a little nervous.

Hon, I wish I had answers for you, but I don't...I'm just posting to say that I hope you have a wonderful day, no matter what you do, and if this year's a bust, next year's might be even sweeter because of the comparison!

Then, give YOURSELF a gift. Go to a spa, or just go window shopping at a mall.
Get your nails done. A new hair cut or color. Then take a long hot bubble bath with candles. Get a good book and enjoy yourself.

1) Thinking that if you start a "today is my birthday " thread, (on Sat) That MD would allow chatting, and not delete it for the duration of your virtual BD party?..I think the New years eve one continue for several days. You could pop in and out of the thread throughout the day. A novel experience ..It should be fun..
2) do you feel like calling up some of your old flames, telling them that it is your birthday, you are single, and they and their significant others are invited to a "dutch treat" no presents allowed, "birthday celebration night" at your favorite restaurant/ watering hole?
3) If you are brave enough, and have the personality for it, this might be fun. Most towns have a friendly, safe, bar and grill (the food part is important.) Tell the waitress (female) that it is your birthday when you are ordering dinner Something like "it is my birthday tonight, and my louse of a boyfriend just broke up with me, and i will be damned If am going to sit at home moping about it. If she knows her regulars well, and it is a non pickup type place, she will introduce you to several of them and look out for you. If she does, be sure to tell her to make sure the drinks are weak, as you are not looking to get drunk, and want to go home alone.
PS, good luck tomorrow...

Sweet you dont need a man to celebrate your birthday. God knows I've celebrated more of em alone that I have with someone. Make that day your day like already said. Pamper yourself. Everywhere you go tell em Its my birthday and see if you don't get treated just a bit more special too.

Suth,
There are some great ideas here.
Fel,
I was thinking of a virtual birthday party here too. The New Years party turned out to be a lot of fun. I will attend. We can all bring virtual presents. May I be the first to give you a gift, Suth? I know I always wanted a new Mercedes-- so how about it? What color would you like?
Maybe someone else would like to give you a virtual cruise for two??? Hmmmmmmmmm.
Whatever you decide, have a wonderful day.

I agree with Kat, Go pamper yourself girl! Get your nails done, go shopping and treat yourself, choose something you really want to do but haven't in a long time. Make your day about You this year! Sometimes the peace and quiet by yourself are a gift in itself. Or Crank up the stereo and dance!
Now to the fun stuff..... I'll send you a big bouquet of flowers and a goodie basket filled to the brim with lotions, some bath salts, a big terry robe, a great bottle of wine, Godiva chocolates, soft fuzzy socks, aromatherapy candles and a great CD to relax to.
You know when you look around, someone else is probably hurting more than you, I always try to think of someone else worse off than myself. This past weekend I had a migraine and had to take a trip to the ER for an IV. Afterwards I told my Mother, that I thank God for the meds that I can actually feel taking the pain away so quickly. It made me stop and think of a friend of mine who has gone through Chemo, and I know my pain is No comparison to what she went through.
You'll make it, you are a strong and beautiful woman!
Make your Birthday the Best one ever! Happy Birthday!

So Pete,
Are you taking her out on a dad and daughter date? That would be nice. Girls like that stuff.

I can't give you the whole raincheck... but you can have the stub.

OK, I'm going to have to log-off soon...

She's turning 13 - going out with me on her birthday is the last thing on her mind. I've already asked her and she doesn't want to "do" anything in particular. I'll be taking her to a play but she'll be sitting with her friends. We go to breakfast and dinner together at other times... I want her to have a good time.

Happy Birthday.
(Sorry, that's the best I can do. Not really a party-guy.)
I pray your year is truly blessed.

Pete,
Wasn't sure what age she was. Makes sense. At that age, I didn't want to be seen with my parents. I was too grown up.

Yeah, I think I can read her pretty well (what parent doesn't think they can read their kids ). At this age, she basically wants money - I don't get to buy her gifts because she doesn't like my tastes - so I give her money and she lets me see what she bought with it. Hopefully it's just a phase.
