What mountains are you going to? Sounds like a good time to just listen to nature.

Up by Lake Arrowhead. Yea I can't wait plus he said that he found about $ 300.00 worth in the streams near there. He will be only the 5th person I have shown this place to really hard to find. I don't want the hot springs to become a party place so I don't show it to many people.

I'm thinking on the way to Big Bear. Maybe San Gorgonio. Seems to me, I recall some hot springs near Forest Falls area. It's beautiful there.
I've only done a teeny bit of panning. It is too tedious, but being out in nature is the best.
There's a hill along Interstate 10, here near Desert Hot Springs, where you can find garnets. I'm almost certain it is named 'Garnet Hill'. I've found some embedded in stones there. They really aren't that difficult to find. Not many people know about its hidden treasures, although the hill is right in plain view.

Forest Falls I love it there. WE sell our chocolates up in Oak Glen but where I'm talking about is north by north west of Lake Arrowhead the nearest house is about 5 miles there is no trails, road or anything to this place It's a wild walk to it.

Oak Glen is wonderful. The last time I was there, we took our students on a field trip. I love to got there and order hot apple pie a la mode. Of course, I have to have hot chocolate with whipped cream too. You know how cold it can be there this time of year. Got to warm my insides. Not too many calories either.
I have an idea of where you are talking about. Haven't been there, but as you well know, it used to be a bustling mining area. Most of the locals know to keep the hot springs secret. You know what would happen, if the locale got out.

Another good place to pan for gold is in the Gorman area (off Hwy 5). I'm not going to say too much because the last thing we need is another California gold rush.
I took a class of kids to pan for gold on a school-sponsored field trip. It was great fun and once the kids found some "gold" (the adults were secretly dropping nuggets of pyrite into their pans) you could actually watch them get "gold fever" - some were trying to steal each other's gold, others were getting very possessive of their own spot in the stream. It was interesting (and fun) to watch.

Just got back was a total blast and I found a little gold. my buddy found a nice nugget I think it was a 1/4 oz he said it isn't that big and he found a smaller one too. He said the water was to deep but wants to go back with these tubes with glass lense at the bottom to look in the water.

I was wondering how much gold is going for, per ounce, nowadays. Does anyone know?
Bet those waters were freezing cold. Did you make it to the hot springs?
