eah, who cares?

I'll be long gone before the shit hits the fan. Future generations? f'ck 'em. Not my problem.

Drill baby Drill!

Don't be so sure.
We all come back again.
The planet we leave, we leave for our future selves.

@Dillweed
Apparently, God doesn't like America much.

Maybe "he" doesn't like it much since he was hi-jacked and stamped on it's currency...only to have the people of the supposed "Christian" nation put a higher value on the currency than on the beautiful earth he made.

Nice that Dillweed now agrees that God created the Earth and it never was formed through evolution at all.

Evolution doesn't explain the universe or try to. It's a completely inaccurate perception and intentional perversion of a sound scientific theory.

Yes Para, your God is angry that "his" good name is tarnished by the bumper sticker slogan, "In God We Trust". The arrogance extends to thinking God is for sale as well as the planet that spawned all life as we know it.

I'll be long gone before the shit hits the fan. Future generations? f'ck 'em. Not my problem. Hey, I think I just became a republican!

Who creates solar flares? The grand canyon? Earthquakes? Tsunami's?
I have children. I have younger people in my family and heart that will outlive me.
Merely providing food for thought that, try as we might, contribute what we will, the earth is far more vast and nature is far more powerful than we are when it comes to cooling and warming.
The cow example wasn't being snarky. It's been sighted as a cause of global warming. Yes, really. And sheep as well.
It's a little arrogant to think that this world and all the "nature" that's beyond our control, is dependant upon us to "control" it. Yes, it's our responsibility to not pollute it. To leave it better than we found it. But you have to wonder if it warms and cools without a little help from its friends.

cows flatulating

Ahhh yes. Cows are part of the problem. 'Tis true.

Only cows wouldn't be here but for humankind. Meat eaters, cheese-junkies, ice-cream aficionados, and those of a similar ilk.

So given those inconvenient truths, I guess ol' Al was right. The problem was indeed brought about by man.

I have stuck to the man made warming side even though it's not true, i don't agree with the way we teat the environment.
Now my Canadian Gov has dropped out of Kyoto as the science has shown it to be BS. Being Canadian I'm responsible for my Gov policies.
Humans and our ruminants are responsible for a total of 1.8% of the CO2 produced per year. Global warming is a measurable fact. And when the climate warms CO2 increases a mere 800 years lagging. Al fudged his graph left that past out.
Our sun is in a solar maximus the likes of which we have never seen. The leading gas causing warming is of course water vapor and with our sun dumping particles into our atmosphere vapor nucleation is increased dramatically.
Kyoto was an expensive mistake.

my thoughts too... would you care to expand on it with some real documentation?

but this is gold..

Yes, it's our responsibility to not pollute it. To leave it better than we found it
I would just add the word..unnecessarily..

((locally.. hinkley is still having water issues....) and nationally, the pig farms have finally started to clean up their acts ...only because..)

the government made them....

Bitter, Pam? How could one person possibly make the difference if 7 billion of us aren't?

A twist of perspective shines a whole new light, doesn't it?

How is Al Gore's Global Warming working out for you?

Each of the top 10 warmest years globally have occurred since 1998. I only got the shovel out once so far this winter and that's a personal record for me. Good for my back I suppose.

not too good..

some of my fruit trees are budding prematurely.. but..when a killer frost comes later on this winter.. these buds will freeze and die off.. then the tree will try again to bud,, but this puts tremendous stress on the trees, reducing yeild.. and allowing for insects to attack

BUT.. this..

http://www.epa.gov/climatechange/effects/agriculture.html
Agriculture and Food Supply

Climate Factors | Implications for North America

Agriculture is highly sensitive to climate variability and weather extremes, such as droughts, floods and severe storms. The forces that shape our climate are also critical to farm productivity. Human activity has already changed atmospheric characteristics such as temperature, rainfall, levels of carbon dioxide (CO2) and ground level ozone. The scientific community expects such trends to continue. While food production may benefit from a warmer climate, the increased potential for droughts, floods and heat waves will pose challenges for farmers. Additionally, the enduring changes in climate, water supply and soil moisture could make it less feasible to continue crop production in certain regions.

...Recent studies indicate that increased frequency of heat stress, droughts and floods negatively affect crop yields and livestock beyond the impacts of mean climate change, creating the possibility for surprises, with impacts that are larger, and occurring earlier, than predicted using changes in mean variables alone. This is especially the case for subsistence sectors at low latitudes. Climate variability and change also modify the risks of fires, pest and pathogen outbreak, negatively affecting food, fiber and forestry.

(translation.. crop failures/ livestock issues ...and this means ..for us..higher food prices. for the rest of the 3rd world.... ).

...Is what bothers me the most....

Hows living with head in sand and out of reality working? Dont answer I can see it works well for you.... after all ignorance is bliss, everyone knows this..

You make a daughter, I and everyone on the block trash her and drill her dry and then do nothing to fix her or repair her, hell I deny I even had anything to do with her condition, how ignorant would you be willing to be then?
