Perhaps it's the window they look through....

A young couple moves into a new neighborhood.
The next morning while they are eating breakfast,
The young woman sees her neighbor hanging the wash outside.
"That laundry is not very clean", she said.
"She doesn't know how to wash correctly.
Perhaps she needs better laundry soap."

Her husband looked on, but remained silent.

Every time her neighbor would hang her wash to dry,
The young woman would make the same comments.

About one month later, the woman was surprised to see a
Nice clean wash on the line and said to her husband:

"Look, she has learned how to wash correctly.
I wonder who taught her this."

The husband said, "I got up early this morning and
Cleaned our windows."

Things that make you go Hmmmmmm

it's not a very good person, huh...

Yeah, everyone's opinion of good will vary. But let's remove the truly bad, rape, murder, harming children, abuse, etc. and there's a lot of good to look at. Giving of yourself to others, to causes, loving your family, applying yourself at work, helping your neighbors....that's a start.

There are many people who call themselves christians and act like that, those that go to church just because its the right thing to do or they want to look good. Anyone who acts like that dont know Jesus at all nor do they follow him. for Christ would never act like that or treat anyone like that. He teaches love, acceptance, forgiveness, and gods word. We are all suppose to love each other, help each other, pray for each other. We are the body of Christ and each one of us is a part of his body and we all work together. Its people like that that chase away those new to the faith.

good post, laura - and welcome.

I think most people are 'good' - it all depends on what we focus on.

I know we all come from different backgrounds and many attend church and are fans instead of participants.

Fans looking at the group and deciding how good one should act and then modify it to fit their wants and desires and still be accepted and do their best to accommodate, the church and their desires (what a conflict)

Then we also have (E) Evangelical Christians, Protestant Christians. Catholics and some call themselves Catholic Christians.

Evangelical Christians have some difference with in the group, but they have some very basic beliefs they agree on and this is one of them. Sad part is so many churches today, do to our relational society, seldom mention it. They preach relational and the doctrinal statement will state what I am about to illustrate in some dusty corner.

Sad affair we have in the pulpit today for E.

Good person, is a worldly term to us. It is the idea of doing good. Good works for salvation. Good person. Did you do good. Were you good. E rejects this concept, totally.

So what do E believe? We believe in the work of Christ.

That Christ is our Savior, Sanctification, and our Glorification. The term Sanctification and glorification is not in the Bible as a word, but the concept is.
I John 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

This is the glorification part. We will be perfect as he is, when we see Him. Can and will not be perfect before that day. Christ does it all.

Romans 3:22-24 (New International Version)

22 This righteousness is given through faith in[a] Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.

Again Christ did it all. Was crucified and risen that all men might have life. It is not by being good or doing good. It is by faith or believing what Christ has done.

Romans 1:17
For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: "The righteous will live by faith."

That to get holier (not be good or good person) on earth it is done my faith. "Righteousness that is by faith from the first (beginning) to the last (seeing him). Faith in what? Christ.
We do not look at being good. We look at it as becoming holier or more righteous with Christ the perfect one, the one with the highest character to guide us.

What is His character:
Galatians 5:22
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith

This is God's perfection described. He wants Christians to submit to be like this. This is His goal and will complete when we see Him.

The Spirit which E often refer to as the Holy Spirit as in God. Enters at our salvation.

So we now have the Holy Spirit in us and of course our selfish nature fighting for authority of our will or actions. As we read the word of God the Holy Spirit will convict us, direct us, guide us. It is our choice to submit or reject, Christ.

This is found in Romans with the new man, old man.

If a E rejects this calling. He is out of fellowship with God. Similar to you rejecting your Mom or Dad, it causes grief and not much communication goes on till it is reconciled.

So an E is or should be always looking to Christ--reading His word. John 1:1 In the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God.

They desire to know Christ for he is the fruits of the Spirit against such things there are no laws. They desire to know Christ the perfect one who died for our salvation. Convicting all man kind of their wrong doing.

So it is not doing good works or being a good person.

It is more of a choice.

Being a slave to an ever changing standard

Or submitting to Christs will for righteousness imputed.

We see Christs body(saved Christians) as Christs work in progress and not our doing.

Not striving for perfection by a standard we have set or being good.

We look to the perfect one who has set the righteous standard to do it in us, by our choice to willfully follow or submit to Him.

All things temporaal (worldly) are in reality spiritual. There is a struggle between the Angles and the Demons, with mankind caught in the middle. Some of mankind have sided with God in this struggle and some of mankind are possessed, or in league with the Devil in this struggle.

Historically, Satan loves infant sacrifice, Anciently the idol worshipers who were influenced by Satan sacrificed live babies; in modern times, the modernist secular progressives continue to advocate the killing of live babies by means of abortion, which is also under the influence of Satan.

In America, there is a political struggle between the left and the right, with the secular progressives as Godless Liberals on the political left and the conservatives who are pro life and pro family on the political right.

The leftists champion open borders and shrug their shoulders at, or actively advocate illegal alien migrations, the use and legalization of illegal drugs such as marijuana, uphold the gay lifestyle and wicked gay agenda, and demand that anyone who argues against their Soddom and Gommorrah advocacy is stupid, old fashioned, not "with it," a bigot, racist, or any other stingiing attack which comes to mind..

The people on the political right actively advocate the sanctity of marriage and of children being born in Holy Matrimony, that the borders be sealed and that law and order shall prevail, that illegal drug distribution, possession or use continue to be illegal, are opposed to granting governmental approval to recreational drug use by taking away the stigma of all such behavior being illegal in our society. The God fearing and law abiding political right are locked in a social struggle with the Godless Left who are advocating that all things bad are good and that all things good are antiquated for their wants and needs and are bad.

The behavior of those who are law abiding under the laws of man and also the laws of God on the political right are being constantly attacked by the decriminalizing demands and illegal activities of the scoff-law political left, who sneer at marriage, who think babies aborted or babies born out of wedlock are nothing to condemn. The Godless scoff-law leftists say "you cannot legislate morality" to lay the foundation that no laws should prohibit any ill advised or wrong conduct.

All of these matters are examples of Spiritual Warfare in our daily life, politics, and how we as individuals view right and wrong.

Most people are in rebellion against the Celestial Law, pay no tithing and boycott going to church, are people practicing evil so often and so many ways in the very ace of God that they now sneer at Heavenly Father, announce that God is dead, and that all things evil are good (such as saying something is "Wicked" instead of saying that something is good.

The leftists in league with Satan scoff at God, revile His Servants, and advocate a systematic breakdown of the church and of society. They hate the family unit and also the most wholesome nation in the history of Planet Earth, the United States of America. These same people have made illegal drug use, living in sin, and evil conduct as being the center of their ongoing wants and needs.

Along comes those who uphold God and morality such as the Servant of Christ and also others, and you can see for yourself the walk in life that they have chosen.

You can also see the walk in life chosen by those in rebellion to the Celestial Law, who advocate evil doing and make continuous attacks on both the Church and also against the nation whose motto is "In God We Trust."

So, in our daily life, politics, and choices made, all of us in the temporal world are engulfed in Spiritual Warfare and each of even does possess an eternal soul that prays to God on an subliminal level even when the lips of the conscious person are profane and in all of their decisions, cling to wickedness as their chosen walk in life.

I am one of those ridiculed, called names and attacked by those clinging to evil who are articulate and knowing tools of the Evil one and Liar who is the Prince of the Demons.

Their soul is very likely lost because an Hell awaits them as their reward for advocating abortion, illegal drug use, illegal alien invasion, the destruction of the family unit, the destruction of our nation, and the destruction of the Church.

Though my own sins are manifest and my degree of perfection is lacking because I have sometimes been weak after the way of men, I will never deny the Christ or preach against the Celestial Law. I pray for forgiveness and that I may be in instrument in His hand, and that being in contention with those in league with Satan, that I might have my everlasting Priesthood magnified to confound them and expose them for what they actually are, as beings possessed of Demons whose every sentient act and deed is to foster all that which is wrong, and to attack all that which is right.

I pray for strength and for protection. I pray for the hearts of the children of man to be touched and lead out of the darkness and into the light when I am engaged in advocacy whether the same is temporal in scope or spiritual in nature, since in reality both are one and the same. I bless all those whose prayer life is active and stand strongly opposed, wearing the armor of God against the Satanic legions whose purpose it is to destroy your living soul with lies, temptation, sin, and evil deeds.

How is your God sinless? Didn't he intentionally murder most of the human race? (according to your bible anyway)

Well you are liar and a perverter of the truth so you certainly aren't qualified to judge anything.

Yes, and God explains that in plain English that he is no respecter of persons. Also, you use the word "murder" incorrectly, as any court of law will uphold the legal doctrine that there is no criminal culpability to "an Act of God."

So, stop spinning your lies and thus revealing you hatred for God. Remember, if you don't like me because of my fealty to God, you are also NOT GOING TO LIKE the SERAPHIM, who are God's Shock Troopers and street enforcers with the fiery swords who will think nothing of "boinking" you on the A$$ to herd you along while in Hell while you cry your eyes out while in the Lake of Fire for eternity, for having been so hard of heart during your lifetime to attack God and to cling tightly to the devil in worship of his evil ways.
