I'll respond if I want. If you even bothered to read what I posted you would see that I made it clear I understood what you said. I also know what you believe so I posted about that too.

Just because you don't agree doesn't mean it isn't true.

This thread asks:
What makes a good Christian> A good person>
The answer is quite simple ..... wake up and and start acting like a non-christian!

Peace

How would that be?

I hold people to higher standards. Not just Christians.

For example, if I had a flat tire, and someone stopped and fixed it, I do not ask "Are you a Christian?"
I just think, wow-that was a nice person.

I have known many many people that volunteer, for all kinds of things. They aren't all Christians, but many are, and I just think it is so compassionate of them.

I haven't read this entire thread so I can only offer my current thoughts and why I won't join the christian club. First and least important is the club rules. Talk amongst yourselves and never openly admit suspicion to non members. No corrections or new ideas. You must follow an imaginary king and give your brain to him or you'll just be worthless as a soul and human being. The Catch? Your raised believing everyone who believes in a different king has no value. Tomorrow is the last day. You'll be shot off into space and spared what all the other people have to endure. After all you have been raised your entire life not to give a rats ass about your brothers and sisters future. These things have made me very dubious of Christians in my every day life. I have all my life avoided doing business with them as they can not be trusted in matters of business.

I applaud you for this.
BUT, in my experience, both Christians and non Christians do it.

I was just thinking this morning, it was said in a thread, days ago, something to the effect not to work on those with a hardened heart. First, there are a few Christians that way. My way or the highway, I know, you don't, blah blah. Second, no person is a waste of our time or effort. It is the WAY it is done, and some cannot get that through their head.
But there are non-Christians that way, too, they just don't see it. How can you say there is no God, yet blame him for everything? Oxymoron.

If you were at a gas station, and a polite person said, I'm lost, can you help me find (street, business, town, etc), and you were actually going there, would you a) say here's the directions, but I'm going there if you'd like to follow, I'll lead? or b) ask "Are you a Christian? No? Find your own damn way or c)are you a Christian? No? Then, you stupid idiot, I know, I know better than you, stupid, go down 2 miles idiot, turn north, idiot, then find the rest of the way yourself, idiot?

Mornin' Lor

If someone stopped me and said "Hi, I'm lost, can you help me out? Oh, and by the way, I'm a Christian, and if you're not, you're doing the devil's work", I'd tell them to go f'k themselves. People here on MD blurt out their religious beliefs like it was something that's acceptable in polite society.

Exactly Lor

Leading by example is the way any teaching should be done. The old do as I say not as I do adage comes to mind. I cannot see following someone who cannot walk the talk they talk. Besides is someone who berates and condemns others someone you would really want to be like?? Someone who tells you you are full of sin repent when they themselves sin against their brothers with no remorse ?? I would rather follow the lead of someone ,no matter their belief, that actually lives what they preach..not someone who says one thing and does another. If a person lives their life in a compassionate brotherly etc way one can see and emulate their actions.. whereas watching a person who does not truly live as they preach only sows seeds of distrust discourse and doubt.

What was misunderstood is a saying I like
Gakina-awiiya (We Are All Related)
It's Apache, I believe.
Anyway, it shouldn't matter race, color, creed, political party...etc. If employers cannot discriminate, why do we? (Unless someone;s personality draws contempt upon themselves)

I was at this time living, like so many Atheists or Antitheists, in a whirl of contradictions. I maintained that God did not exist. I was also very angry with God for not existing. I was equally angry with Him for creating a world."

You know what Beckster and Lor if you would actually take your own advice and show us all how it should be done when dealing with people like me then just maybe I would be willing to give you more credit than I do.

It's not how you treat the people that you like that makes a difference in this world. It's how you treat the people you don't like that matters. That's where the rubber meets the road.

Now I will have to look that up.
I keep reading your God did this, your God did that, but I don't believe in Him.
Ok. That's your choice.
BUT, then, blame Darwin, creationism, evolution, or Whomever you believe in, or nobody, for all the things that are wrong.
And, if the Bible is written by mere man, then any bad someone complains about in the Bible could just be a fiction book to them (and is, in some cases), it may have never happened.
So
seems the fighting about all of it is just that-fighting.
He either IS for all good and bad. Or He is not
Whatever YOU believe in is responsible for all of it.
(not you, Katt-any, all)
