Are human beings 'hardwired' to find different the faces of different races attractive?
Scientists have discovered that white people tend to choose other races when asked to rate which faces they find most attractive.
The scientists discovered that white men prefer the facial features of Asian women while white women go for the faces of black men.
John Lennon and Yoko Ono: The scientists found that white men tend to prefer Asian faces and white women tend to prefer black men
Men and women aged between 18 and 30 were shown 600 faces of the opposite sex and asked to grade them for attractiveness.
The women tended to go for black male faces, followed by white and then Asian.
Men plumped for Asian women, followed by white, then black.
The Department of Psychology at Cardiff University, which carried out the study, says the results of their research are reflected in society.
Government figures show around one-and-a-half times more black men marrying white women than the other way around in the UK.
More white men have also been found to marry East Asian women - compared to Asian men marrying white women.
Dr Michael Lewis, who led the research project, said: ‘It will come as no surprise to many that facial attractiveness makes up part of the decision of who we marry.
‘And it's no coincidence that groups perceived as more attractive - black males and Asian females - feature more often in mixed-race marriages.
‘In the past more measurable features such as wealth, status and fertility have been considered more important in how we choose out partners.
‘Our study matches the same patterns observed in the Government's data on marriage.’

OK, there is a lot here. First of all, the results of this study sound bogus to me, more political than scientific. But that's something neither I nor anyone else here is going to be able to prove, so I'll move on to a different aspect.
It's long been theorized that "diversification of the gene pool" is evolutionarily advantageous and that millions of years of evolution has programmed us to seek out sexual partners who are "unlike" us. So if people tend to find people of other races attractive, it would be consistent with this theory and not especially surprising. This may also explain why most of us are not sexually attracted to siblings, for example: they are simply too much like us and we don't find that sexually stimulating.
But what I find more interesting than the theory about how we might be attracted to those who are different from us is the question of why so FEW people engage in interracial sexual relationships. You would think that if we were "programmed" to seek out sexual partners who differ from us that it would be much more common.
I'm can picture some of the reasons that might support this: it may be theorized, for example that most of us live in places where everyone is the same race, and people tend to feel most comfortable and gravitate towards living in places where people are the same race as they are and that therefore most people do not have an opportunity to form sexual relationships with partners of other races... the opportunities just aren't there,
It's a theory and a counter-theory. But if you go by asking people, I think it's clear that most people prefer to have partners of the same race. So in order to dispute that you would have to say that you know what they want better than they do. And I think that doing that is always a stretch.
So I'd have to say that I think the entire theory: that people of one race find people of certain other races more attractive, is questionable.
However, having just looked at the posters profile, I can see why this theory appeals to him.

Generalizations tend generally to be wrong. In the above hypothesis, one assumes ab initio that there is no societal influence among mankind which is called racism.
OK, so now we know that Kum Ba Ya "Scientists" have established a hypothesis that is absurd on its face.
I cannot speak for all white men, but I would venture to say that most sexuyally active straight white men prefer attractive women with hourglass figures, long hair, great legs, perky round breasts, even teeth, blue or green eyes, smooth skin, and an available mouth with kissable lips. These are the women who give men "blue balls" just by being there, and are found in men's magazines,and those items classical and intellectual literature (I only read them for the articles) sell like hot cakes.,

one very cold winter when the temps were way below zero for what if I rememberz correctly was for at least a month long period of time, and maybe even two...we went into a resturant in a very small town up on the high wind-swept prairies of north dakota, and a little Chinese woman came out to take our order...I found out she owned the place...when we first ordered coffee, she didn't quite understand us for some reason, so I translated it for her in her own dialect 
she was totally surprised when I sez, "coffee, you knowz, sippy-sippy hot-hot"!

The only "grain of truth" in this is that many American males of certain generation(s) happen to be veterans of Asian wars, so Asian females most likely remind them of their young years , that's all. Otherwise , humans are naturally inclined and culturally conditioned to stay within their race/ethnicity/religious group/tax bracket/etc.
As for females' preferences, the op has nothing to do with that, it's obviously just a evidence of the author's sexual insecurities. Females are naturally hardwired to be attracted to winners . Preferably their own race/ethnicity/religious group/etc , physically fit / adequately equipped/mentally stable/etc., but the major factor is being a winner ,that supersedes all.

An astute observation. Precisely true!
Aside from situational factors like that, I don't think there's any viable pattern of preference to be developed here.
Of course bogus studies come out all the time.

Wow... what a bunch of Crap.
You can hardly call something a study that involves only 1200 people. 
I don't think that people are attracted to the "race" itself, rather I think it's the culture that the person personifies. Asian women are known to be good caretakers, wise with money...e.t.c. Black men tend to be great lovers....or so I hear :))
Again, I think it's the culture the various races offer in a relationship. Of course we could be attracted to the genes themselves. Maybe Asians have a lower risk of heart disease and we want to pass that on to future generations.
Personally, I am attracted to the Asian male. For me it is all about the culture. I find the respect they offer each other absolutely intoxicating. White males tend to fight for their females...man to man....in Japanese culture the man inflicts wounds to himself to show what he is willing to do for the woman.....whomever inflicts themselves with the "largest" wound wins ...what a concept, hurt yourself not others......see...that is what I find attractive...not their genes....

I'm attracted to the physical attributes that show signs of health and fitness. I'm attracted to the mental attributes that suggest an intelligent, open, understanding, and caring mind. Natural blonde body hair is a plus and probably quirky on my part.
I wouldn't dare speak for anyone else in regards to what attracts us to who and why.

GH.... I know about that history....and that is what it is....it was during war time.....and it again points out how loyal and obligated Asian women feel towards their husbands. A turn on for some western men.
Asian men are known for their perversions when it comes to sex. Ahem.....we all have fetishes of some sort when it comes to sex. :))
Again, I do believe it is culture not "looks" or "genes" that makes another race "interesting"....to me anyway.
My attraction actually changes as I progress with age. As I learn more about cultures and history of certain races, I tend to choose what I am attracted to at that time. Right now in my life I find the "western culture" attractive, they offer stability in retirement, where other cultures rely on their children, we rely on ourselves.
So it changes, when I was younger....21 or so, I was briefly attracted to the black male, because of his ability to move, run and be sexual. At 30 I was into Asians, because of their ability to earn money and their intelligence.
Of course you can't really categorize races like that, because every race has it's idiots and losers...... and winners.
