February 8-14th is Random Acts of Kindness Week.
Perhaps many of us are to embarrassed to change or too frightened of the consequences of showing that we actually care. But why not risk it anyway? So why not begin today. Carry out a random act of seemingly senseless kindness, with no expectation or reward or punishment. And take satisfaction in the knowledge that one day, someone somewhere might do the same for you. It can be something as small as a smile,a kind word,a compliment..
What would your random act of kindness be?

my husband and i always do nice things for people because we get to yak, and it feels nice. he's always helping someone with groceries; we give older people rides to the grocery store, etc. my favorite was when i was walking in college.
someone had dropped an elderly lady off at her house with her groceries. geez, they left her bags sitting on the sidewalk close to the curb, and she was walking a bag at a time. i just scooped up the remaining bag (never broke stride. i could tell she thought i'd take off with it). i followed her up to the door and left it. that woman wouldn't let me go without giving me a banana, so i finished my walk with potassium on my breath.

I think I practice a random act of kindness every day by trying to be nice to everyone and giving someone a smile instead of a frown.
But the biggest act of kindness I`ve ever done is to put together a food basket for a family that was left homeless, even though I myself was stuggling to get by(4 kids eat a lot you know)

Maybe not now, but it will someday.
And in kind that kindness will flow,
For kindness grows in this way."

I don't know if this counts as random but today when the kids down the street get home from school I am going to get out my commercial grade cotton candy machine. I'm going to make a bunch of bags of it and let them go around the block and sell it to pay for thier dogs vet bill was hit by a car and the family hasn't the money to pay for it. They have 5 kids so I'm tring to help.

The center of human nature is rooted in ten thousand ordinary acts of kindness that define our days.

I usually try to do the little nice things for people whenever I can. I don,t need a special week for it, but I will advertise it.

Funny... every team, class, school, etc seems to have one Mom that stands out.
Those gals (and some guys too) are really rather special.
A few years ago, as a Mother's Day feature, I created an "All-Star Team" of Mothers -
one from every school on the Cape.
It was published in nine of the company's chain of papers.
It was the only issue in their history to be sold out.
So... Everyone appreciates those Special Moms (and Dads) - but mostly Moms.

I've been trying to practice this at least once a day. Sadly, weekly has been the best so far. The other night at work I knew of a guy down on his luck. I swiped his car keys without his knowledge and filled his gas tank.
Pay it forward.......

That was an awesome thing to do!
I`ve always tried to do a random act of kindness..even if its just a kind word or a smile...or helping someone less fortunate then myself.
