The forums for me on this site are just a nice way to pass the time and exchange different views on most anything. I never make the initial contact to anyone on dating sites, just post my profile in its honest form and wait to see who contacts me.
I only wish that more than 10% of those ladies that do were from North America.

Speaking about the old days at MD when the forums were HUGE, much larger and more popular than they currently are, the forums built a lot of friendships worldwide without the "pressures" of having to impress someone with your repartee in emails.
what he said
and in addition, if you find someone you are interested in, you can tell them to join you "on the boards" that gives you a chance to see if they are crazy before you show any real interest.

Hi icq4fun2,
Forums let me know if the person who is echoing everything that I said I am looking for... is for real.People can pretend for awhile but sooner or later their real personality comes out in the forums.:) The last couple of years I found my judgement had gotten crappy (I tend to believe who and what people tell me...yup still believe in Santa too:))...and my attitude was starting to suck.I always find my sense of humour and get back up but I was getting sooooooooo much slower at it.:) Friends in the forums kept me straight, told me their horror stories (geez there are some people slower than me People in here make me laugh and shrug...'tis life. I'm back to me and I can think of more reasons and excuses for someones behaviour than they can for themselves.... so on with the hunt for Mr. Imperfect. Mr. Perfect is just too complicated for me

I didn't even know that MD had forums until about a month ago. Before this I just filled out a profile and waited for email notices saying someone had contacted me. I like to get to know people as people so for me I think the forums are a great way to do this.

I find that the forum is an added bonus offering amusement as well as amazement. It's a fun area where most anything goes. If one ever notices people post from many states as well as from other countries.
I send out a few "hi there your attractive, what to meet for an iced tea" e-mails on this site. I am a member of 6 other sites, however this is THE site where I do postings pere the forum. It's friendly and fun.
I have yet to meet in person any women off the forum area. I have met in person a number off the e-mail "dating" area. I am not about to travel over 50 miles to "date" and I sure as hell wouldn't travel that far to meet me...LOL
In all honesty I feel as though the MD forum is currently a fun location as more and more become MD members the numbers within the forum will of course increase. Good job MD, thank you.

I'm new to internet dating sites, and therefore, to forums. I'm finding I spend more time at the forums than I do answering my mail! But, there are forums on other sites that people haven't written into for months! It's interesting that people here are so chatty and friendly and on other sites they don't "talk" to each other. A communicative bunch here, wouldn't you say?

i've gotten better quality e-mails since i started reading and posting on the forum; it helps me sort of tolerate the goofy e-mails i get. one of my friends cancelled her membership cos she just kept getting crud (they all just focused on how pretty she was). i think she could've lasted longer and had a better time if she'd been on the forum.
getting to know someone this way is much nicer than the one-sided interrogations. and i've met some nice gal pals, too

I love the forums and my friends that I meet on here. I am not sure if the intent was more than just to meet awesome new pals but.... people have been great at giving me the heads up. Almost made a few mistakes and took chances. If you have a tendancey to believe people and are too trusting, it can get very dangerous. Now I contact my guy/gal pals in the area and say.read this profile. Do you know him? Have to be careful not to take everything as truth (sometimes the ladies were hurt or ditched) but most times... they have been on the mark. Sometimes it is a guy in the area , who knows the guy and they can real ditch up the things to watch for. Hugs to my gal pals who keep me safe on here
