Any of you own motorcycles?

I recently bought one of the new Indians. It rides great!

I had a Honda Goldwing previously (yes, I know that's a "yuppie" bike).
It was a tad too civilized and actually didn't ride that well.

Well, I have a couple of dirt bikes, including an old Enduro.
I also have two four-wheelers.

Still, when I think motorcycle, I usually don't include those.......

My first street bike was a Triumph. I killed it and messed myself up pretty good at the same time.

Man, I miss that Triumph.

I'm about 5'3, so I got a couple inches on your lady friend. A gal I work with had a (hugger?) and said that works well for short people.
There's nothing like the feeling of riding on scenic routes with the wind in your hair...

If your lookin to ride and not for prestige get a non-V engine. They run cool and last much longer with min maintenace.

My 74 triumph is chooped and raked. the seat is 23 inches off the ground. I have a savior bolt on, low pressure in the back tire, and i custom built a spring seat with four inches of pad. It is like riding a pillow down the highway.

just got back from a ride down the valley, way nice out here today, 55 when i left home about 40 now just warming up with a cup of coffee.

been ridding for 42 years, i have had most of them popular bikes, now ridding a honda vfr, sport bike/donor cycle, does an honest 150, stops great and goes through the curves like it's on rails, damn it was a great day to be out.

the fav girls bike up here is a honda rebel, i think it comes in a 250 and 450, both great starter bikes for anyone. take the motorcycle safety coarse for learning, they provide the bikes and i think it's only $50, money well spent.

enjoy the ride, be safe, ken

My daughters dream-cycle ~grin~ the one she got her license with. I think she only got her license so she could go off to her J.Crew-style ivy-level college validly sportin' a black leather motorcycle jacket.

1968 Triumph Bonni 650 chopper.

You CHOPPED IT? That was the ULTIMATE bike back in '68/'69!! "Acid green"? The waiting list to buy one was a mile long. (most of us had to compromise with Hondas ...how in the heck did my body withstand those no-shock rides. I b'lieve I'm paying for it now Well, that and dumping with the Harley full-dresser about 10 years ago Owww, and I'm a lousey passenger now )

PS Loki, we're not even gonna touch cars -- the ones we had, the ones we still own ~grin~...unless you know something about the electrical system in an Alfa Spyder )

~grin~ you guys who were stationed in Germany got to have all the fun -- and toys! When someone's stationed at a downtown Chicago/Jackson Park missle site, they need to buy a light enough bike so they can haul it up in their high-rise apartment elevator every night. (god I was a patient wife back then )

And yep, Wulfie, the stupid radio drains the battery ...it's missing it's Blaupunkt faceplate anyway, so I should just yank it out -- just annoying junk -- somewhere there's a short or maybe mis-wired fuse that killed my tail lights...this year, when the weather's better, I'll get serious with my meter. Not gonna tackle the slippage in second gear, though..I just keep shifing carefully, lol. (fixed the vacuum hose leaks in the anti-pollution system, though, and dozens of other 'tinke-y" thingies.) Yep, this summer it's going back on the road (it's an '83 and can fly like a bat outta hell for a 'baby' its size)
