In our local paper they had a section titled Words, War and the Web! I went on these military peoples blog and some of it so sad reading how there daily life in the war zone is.
The world is invited to delve this directly into the heart and mind of the U.S. Soldier. Milblogs are posted literally seconds after the thoughts are typed on a keyboard, sometimes moments after returning from combat. If some of you choose to read there blogs here are a few:
currierd.typepad.com/centurion/2005/08/index.html
afemalesoldier2.com
uppermansblog.blogspot.com
akinoluna.blogspot.com
Have any of you ever visited those sites?

I`ve visited a lot of sites in my exploration of the web..a lot of sad stories out there from the Veterans of the Wars and from those who are now serving. Some of the poetry I read written by them just makes me want to cry.Years ago when I was in High School I took it upon myself to start writing to those lonely soldiers over in Vietnam and the stories I heard were heart breaking to say the least...the Death and Destruction that these guys had to face every day was truely a terrible thing to read about..and so many of them having to face it alone because they were without family or friends.

I watched an interesting thread at the Democratic underground the other day. A long time member returned from doing his duty in Iraq and was banned from posting because he didn't give them the horror story they wanted to hear.
As that Marine said, War sucks and nobody wants to be there but things weren't half as bad as the media likes to portray.

All our troops that return should be welcomed with open arms and all the support our country can give them in return for their hard work in protecting us and our land.

I just hope that our returning veterans get the reception they deserve this time, instead of a whole lot of people protesting against them and calling them "baby killers" and such. Made me sick even as a kid hearing all of that directed at our other soldiers.

Well from what I've seen it looks like our young soldiers are being supported.(at least by the older crowd). Guess America finally learned that taking their anger out on young (and a lot of times tramitized) soldiers,is a pretty chicksh!t way to protest the war. These men have enough on their plates to deal with, than to try and cope with a hostile society when they come home(if they do come home).

Hiwayman, George any units active from your areas? They seem to be shipping lots of units from around here but seldom read of other areas. AND I AM NOT SAYING THEY AREN'T PEEPS. Just that news here is kind of limited to what the ganet news service is willing to tell us. And of course what the evening news is telling. At any rate bros. I encourage you to get out and see what YOU can do for the people left behind. Remember these men and woman's families are existing on below povery level incomes now.
