I’m really fed up with this whole internet chat code. People who say instead of you type u, it does not take that long to type the two extra letters. It shows apathy and ignorance. I went into the chat room and had no idea what people were talking about at times.

Thats one reason I never go into them.I really cant stand abbreviated text in these forums either.
Some poor spelling is normal but others make you wonder how did these people ever make it through school.
Not only spelling but how does anyone expect to find a date if their wording is so ignorant as well.
Dont get me wrong,I'm not high and mighty,I never made the honor roll or had any schooling past high school but I do allright and I dont even remember how to type since high school.

"Leggatt", I understand your feelings completely. For me, I am more old fashion in the communication mode of reaching out to others. Enjoy the fundementals of particapating with understanding and being understood. It is a strong connection to others and should be of sound mind with proper language presentation. Then we understand each other.

I agree spongebob.
Its to damn hard for me to understand a conversation without the expression of voice.
It must be darn tough being deaf.

I have just stopped IM'ing. It is a waste of time. I really want to try the email and then phone route. I have been in IM arguments with two men that I liked. That is so stupid. Unless you are like, 14 years old! I've wasted a lot of time in IM conversations with men and it never goes anywhere. So I am not installing it on this new system. Tempting as it may be, because a few attractive men have asked me to IM with them. One refuses to do email so he is gone.

I am guilty of occasionally doing the Ur or tho thing...New habit. Sometimes when I am communicate with someone who writes like that all the time I feel stuffy spelling everything out.

I heard that tho is now in the dictionary?

Oh, now THIS is funny. This happens to be one of MY pet peeves as well...just drives me nuts! I had to laugh when I read:
it does not take that long to type the two extra letters.

I contend that it takes LESS time to type out the whole word. Have any of you TRIED using those abbreviations? Since it doesn't come naturally, I actually have to stop and think about what I'm doing before I type them. I've tried it once or twice, on IM's, when I was kidding around with someone, and it must've taken 3 or 4 times as long to type a single word. The entire word would have been done in a fraction of the time. Has anyone else tried this, and found things take much longer for them as well????

I wouldn`t exactly say it shows apathy and ignorance for the way they use abbreviations..its just the way most chats are...as for not understanding their talk.Well it does take time to acquire the right way to talk in a chatroom ..the longer U( pardon me I mean you ) use a chatroom the easier it is to become accustomed to their lingo. To each his own and all that..
(I`m one of those chat posters who shows ignorance and apathy)
Apathy is the lack of emotion, motivation, or enthusiasm

I wouldn`t say apathy is a correct term for the chat people either..They are very emotional at times and motivated and very enthusiastic..

lol..oops..I mean laughing out loud..I kind of liked the way they talked. But thats just my opinion.I guess chat is just an acquired taste.

Wulf....thats the cutiest thing I've seen in a long time....Chuckle....thanks for your effort and sharing....you never fail to surprise me... .

I've chatted.(and talk about being confussed in the beginning) .. .because of the fast pace of the scrolling of the screen.....maybe it causes people to have to shorten their input......to keep up.......nothing like responding to what some one has said......3 minutes down the screen....it kinda losses it meaning... .

Mostly the abrv. are easy to figure out and the long timers will gladly answer any questions...regarding them....

any none chatters care to figure these out.....grin

bbiab.........brn......lmao.....ggp.....brb.........

chuckle,, then there is always Zoey. .chat..type and spelling.. ...what scares the chit out of you .....is when you realize, you actually CAN UNDERSTAND IT.......

any chatters got other abr...to add....in the chat lessons
