I just read the "what deceased celebrites would you loved to have met" thread and so that got me thinking? who has already met a celebrity???
i've never really met a celebrity....but there are two things
1. my dad wrote a book called Great Rock Drummers Of The 60s and so famous drummers called my house often while he was revising it. The drummer from The Who called during dinner a couple months ago and I answered. (I am not lying about the book, look it up)
2. In September, I met John Kerry. I went to a rally in Wayne at William Paterson University for Jon Corzine and John Kerry was the main speaker...I saw him walk up the stairs, I was right up front so I called out his name. He saw me and he screamed "hello!" He kept looking at me so I blew him a kiss and he looked really surprised. Afterwards, my sister and probably killed about 50 people to get to him and shake his hand. It was great.

I can think of only one celebrity that I've met, and that's Peter Schickele... a REALLY nice guy, and SUPER-TALENTED to boot!
And while I didn't actually MEET him, I DID see Gregory Peck talk about his life. I had the chance to meet my favorite composer(Jerry Goldsmith) back in 1989 at Wolf Trap, but chickened out. I wish I hadn't, because I'll never get the chance again(He died in 2004).
I'm pretty sure that I've met a few other celebs, but can't remember who they are.

Way back in the 80's I worked in a London recording/rehearsal studio. On one occasion we had 'Art Garfunkel' and his band rehearsing for a Princes Trust concert and come the end of one particular day, the studio manager had trouble getting Mr Garfunkel a cab as it was the rush hour. So, I was asked to drive Mr Garfunkel in my own car in order to get him to his hotel.... I was nervous at first, but we soon got chatting about various things, in fact, I got more confident and I pulled a few slightly illegal driving manouevres in the vain hope of getting stopped by the police just so I could say "Hey! Look I got Art Garfunkel in my car.... Go on Art, give the nice policemen a couple of bars of Bright Eyes to prove it" I never did get stopped, but Art was terrific and gave me a huge tip for my troubles....
Another time Robert Plant came rushing out of a studio screaming, "I need chocolale now" I told him there was a small shop just around the corner that sold chocs and stuff. He said, would I mind doing the honours and getting it for him....and get something for yourself too.... Of course I didn't mind, he gave me a bunch of cash, and I went out and bought him the biggest chocolate I could find. I also bought exactly the same for myself....... His face was a picture....

local sports celeb. Ato Boldon, caribbean (Croatian-born) wrestler Victor Jovica (who one time beat Nature Boy Rick Flair for the NWA Title but was not recognized because of wresting politics).
Otherwise I not met anyone.... lol... I do not go out of my way to meet any Celebs, cuz I think they have enough going on that they do not need to be bothered by fans.

Does it count if it was "I knew them when?"
Bernadette Peters' brother and my brother and I were close friends, so I had the honor of listening to her practice singing for 4 hours a day from the time she was 4 to the time she was 6.
Olivia Cole (She won an Emmy for Roots) was a classmate all through high school, and we were in the Drama club together (I had no illusions about my acting ability, but it was an all girls school and I was a tall contralto).
Maria Muldaur was another high school classmate (Maria D'Amato then, and we used to sing bebop type harmonies together after class).
Jeff Bridges and Robin Williams - when they were filming Fisher King. They used Grand Central Station for the dance sequence in the movie, and I was one of the ones who were waiting for it to open...they hung around and talked to us for about half an hour. Very charming, both of them.
Joan Baez - also in my high school days. We were at a party and I got to sing a duet with her.
Pete Seeger - ditto above but no duet...I used to hang out with people who lived in Greenwich Village, and probably met even more whose names I never caught. It was about the music, not the names.

I met Marty Fortson, who was the singer for The Rivieras, at a local bar.... he got up on stage and sung the song "California Sun" with the band that was playing, and I later got his autograph.
I met David Lee Murphy ( country singer ) after a concert and got to shake hands with him as well as get his autograph.
