How much stock do you put into material items..what is their importance to you? I read a quote a while ago that put it into prespective for me:
Don't hold precious to your heart, what you can hold in your hands.
That really made sense to me. We came into this world with nothing and I`m sure, we`ll will go out the same way.Because we can`t take anything with us.Just take a look at your most prized possessions..a material item and think to yourself, "where will it be 20 years or even 50 years from now? Will it still be around? Or lost somewhere along lifes road?
So the question is: Are you materialistic?

I don't need a lot of "stuff" and I'm happier for it.

I just think that there will be less stress once you stop striving so hard to gain the material items that will never be permanent. I myself have less stress because Im not into material things. What I don`t have I don`t miss.Nor do I envy anyone else for what material things they may have.
(just continueing my education in getting to know people)

My most important possession would be my home because the only things I hired done when I built were my well and my septic. In 20-50 years I dont know who will have it.Right now it will go to my kids when I die.Until then its my little castle.

Ok..that too
I spend my time on getting educated on here..lots of interesting things. I learn something new every day,I am talented in certain things, and I enjoy having fun with my Kids. What I get from these things, I can take with me. The memories will always be with me. They will never be stolen, broken, destroyed or anything else. And they cost me NOTHING to get!!

I wouldn't say that memories cost NOTHING, Tink. The good ones we pay for with our love for others and our acts of kindness toward them, with our energy at simply doing things with those we love. The not-so-good ones we paid for as well, sometime with our blood, our sweat and our tears. Oh, we may not have paid for them in dollars, but we paid for them in one way or another. We paid for them - and yet, they're priceless. (And unique as well...like snowflakes, no two memories are the same....)
As far as material possessions are concerned, take ANYTHING you want - just don't take my photographs! I think it goes along with the memories thing, don't you?

I'm not materialistic in that I need a lot of expensive things to make me happy. I don't acquire a bunch of luxury items.
But there are physical objects that mean a whole lot to me. Things I've gotten from my various trips that help me remember people, and pictures. My doll from my host family in korea and a necklace from a friend in Belarus are two of my most prized possessions. Were there ever a fire, I'd grab those two items before I rescued anything else.
It's the simple, inexpensive things that make me happy.

I am not a material girl.
My husband moved me out here from Michigan to California.
All I needed was my car to do it too.
