And please let's not turn this into a bashing contest. I would just like to meet others who have served their country.

highway I just want to see how many will respond. I know there have to be some here. I just hope the anti war people don't start a debate because that is not what I started this for. Welcome home brother and I hope we hear from some more brothers and sisters.

George, out of genuine interest, can you or any other ‘vet’ name a film that more or less shows the Vietnam War as it was?
I’m not trying to trivialise, it’s just that some of the films seem so realistic, that I presume that ex serving solders must have been advising the directors/writers. And I’m talking about the more cynical films, not your Rambo shot em ups!
Full mettle jacket! Springs to mind as an example!

Got a better Idea devonguy. Why not suit up and go fight the one we have right now??That way you will have 1st hand experience ( always the best I think). There is no movie made that going to bring you to feel the gut renching feeling that your about to die and can do nothing about it. Or the sick feeling you get inside every time you bag up one of your buddies( knowing it could be you next). So go sign up for the big one and let us know how it went.

My ex went to Vietnam in 63,,to build roads. He stayed for 2 terms. Came home right before the Tet, and then went back to put up radio towers. Marines.

you don't know the half of it highway. I flew in an unarmed Huey doing radio direction finding. Got pretty damn scary at times watching those green tracers coming at us.

I was asking because I’m genuinely interested.
Not to have a ‘pop’ at anyone! So if you thought I was doing so, accept my apologies. And I will try to be more precise when I post!
I’m too old to sign up for anything now BTW!
George! Ok thanks!

I'm a draft dogger. I went to school and kept my grades up. Not ashamed of it. We had a lottery - and they didn't quite get to my number. I'm sure glad I didn't have to go.
