Dear Mr. Davis,

Your comic strip "Garfield" is crushingly unfunny. Please retire from the "cartooning" so that other slightly less irritating, but equally unfunny, comic strips may take your place. Thank you.

Wiener dog art.

One I remember because I used to work with a guy named Archie.

"Archie, misunderstanding his dying fathers last words, spends the rest of his life guarding the family mules."

Awesome!!! I was the female version of Calvin during my tender younger years. LOL! Someday when I have kids, I'm sure I'll be blessed/cursed with a little Calvin myself someday.

Garfield has meaning for cat lovers, I am assuming. There are a lot of them out there. *shudder*

In defense of Jim Davis, I LOVE Garfield! I think it is more about the guys life and lack of dating skills than his cat's intelligence, but I am a cat lover, but I am also a dog lover and how come I don't like Marmaduke? Always did love B.C. and Frank and Earnest too.

"Garfield" got old twenty years ago. I also think Johnny Hart should retire. I used to love his comic strip "BC" but it just has not been funny ever since he started using it to proselytize for Christianity. The only strips that I love now are "Foxtrot" and "Zits." The selection in the local newspaper is just awful. The editors seem to have this weird idea that comic strips are for kids, but, oddly, in all of my 36 years I have never seen a child reading a comic strip. I always thought that you need to be an adult or at least a teen in order to really appreciate the humor of most of the comic strips today. I too still miss "Calvin & Hobbes" and "The Far Side." I liked "Bloom County" but thought that "Outland" sucked. I have not really been able to follow Breathed's new strip "Opus" but it seems to be "Outland" resurrected. I also enjoy "Dilbert."

Yes, "Garfield" has been lousy for a long time. "Get Fuzzy" is a far better cat-themed comic strip. Freakin' hilarious! I also like "Foxtrot" and "Zits" just as Rare does. Gimme some "Baby Blues" and my comic list is complete!

Am I the only one who thinks that the Schultz estate (or whoever owns the copyright to "Peanuts") is overexploiting the comic strip? I was just browsing through Waldenbooks the other day when I noticed "The Complete Peanuts, 1954-1955." What irks me is the price was $35.00 and that is just for one year! (Bear in mind that Charles Schultz drew Peanuts for nearly fifty years!) God only knows how much the complete "Complete Peanuts" would cost. I can buy "The Complete Calvin & Hobbes" for only $150.

Foxtrot absolutely SUCKS now!!!!!!!
It wasn't always that way, though. It used to be hilarious, even brilliant and groundbreaking! That was back in the early 90's, BEFORE Bill Amend CHANGED the way the characters were drawn. Now the strip is totally inane, and it breaks my heart!
So, if Bill Amend is reading this(Not bloody likely!), CHANGE the strip BACK to the way it was... PLEASE?!?!?!?!?!
