I would LOVE to get all of those hardback Peanuts books! My best friend is acquiring them.
I have about 50 or 60 of the old Fawcett Crest editions, and several 1st edition Holt Reinhart and Winston Peanuts books... in mint condition!!
Let me say this...
Peanuts suffered the same fate as Foxtrot... In the early 70's Shulze changed the way the characters were drawn, and as a result, the strip wasn't NEARLY as funny as it was during it's heyday of the mid 50's through the late 60's. And, of course, when his Parkinsons began manifesting itself in his ability to draw the strip, it suffered even more.

I am not sure what you are referring to, Stormy. Every cartoonist's creation tends to improve over time. Compare "Doonesbury" today with the earliest strips - Trudeau could not even draw the complete face of his characters at that time! "Bloom County", "Calvin & Hobbes", "Zits", "BC", "Garfield"...the list goes on and on. I still find Foxtrot as amusing as ever---it is one of the few comic strips that I bother to read in the local newspaper--and I do not understand the nature of your complaint. You should also bear in mind that most newspapers now shrink comic strips in order to fit more strips in their comics pages. Cartoonists have no influence in this decision and it is one of their biggest grievances.
