I just purchased an AKC Golden Retreiver puppy. He is very smart, leash trained and housebroken in one day, well that is he understands what it means to do outside. I am making him an indoor pet most of the time, will be taking lots of walks. I would like to hear others tell about their dog.

Hopeful, Golden Retrievers are fabulous dogs. Currently, I have a white German Shepherd. I saw this dog online and him flown from Minnesota to Mississippi. He is stunning.

Mines a purebred German Shepard named Leah. Her father was actually from Germany.Shes a darn good guard dog,not mean outside the house but she is very protective inside. She is smart enough to know what is a potential threat and what isnt.Does a good job keeping the racoon population down around here too.Rabid little buggers!

I think German Shepherds are gorgeous! I have a Norwegian Elkhound named Ellekia. I like this breed because they are pretty, they are mindful, great with kids, loving. It's fun to take her places because little kids think she's a wolf, but she has the curled up tail. She pays real close attention when the big kids wrestle with the little kids

Brandy is my gal's name.. she is 1/2 Bernese Mt. Dog and 1/2 Australian Sheepdog... she is smart, protective, and a darn good herder. She has 7 layers to her coat and she is mainly black with brown markings and white blazes all over... she understands commands in Spanish, English, French and German.

I have a mixed Chocolate lab named Coco that I adopted in 2002 and she has been a blessing to the family. Everyone adores her and she's just the greatest dog. She's ever so gentle around my mother and NEVER jumps up on people. She is only aggressive if you come in her back yard or approach me aggressively. Yes...she sleeps with me during the winter but now tends to stay outside where it's nice.

I have 2 wonderful dogs....both Heinz 57. Have no clue what they are, just know we love them to death. I work with an animal rescue and they both came in from very abusive situations. Took one look and fell in love. Had to bring them home with me. For me, the best breed is a rescue!!

Jankia.. the commands I was speaking of were things like sit... speak... lie down.. shake... (she does tricks for treats)

Loreli.. she sheds horribly .. I brush her every evening.. she was also a pound rescue... in the summer, she is shaved to a half inch of coat.... she would die if I did not...

She also has a brain tumor behind her left eye that is inoperable.. the vet said it was a result of a beating (when we got her from the shelter, they found her on the side of the road beaten with an iron) but she has only had 6 seizures in the 13 years I have had her.. so she is doing fine!

People that do that to their pet should have the favor returned...

I've always liked Norwegian Elkhounds, but have never owned one. I live in too warm a climate for that breed.

My boxer is the best dog I've had yet. He's stubborn, but hilarious.
