 and die knowing I was rude..I couldn`t do that...I`d want to go off my diet and eat...perhaps gorge myself on chocolate since i don`t like it..

I just found out this afternoon that a friend of mine that I buy alot of construction material from has prostate cancer and less then 45 days left.He said he is going to spend that time making his soon to be death as easy as possible on his family.

Jankia, you are always so serious. However, I can sympathize with your friend - my husband lived 8 weeks after he was diagnosed with cancer. We had time to say all those things and do those things that mean so much even now.
Tink, rude is the least of my problems. But chocolate is a great idea. Wonder how much I could eat before I killed myself -----hmmm. Maybe I need to run to the store.

Ah, reality bites. Sorry to hear that Jankia, hope he goes easy...
For me, I'd probably do the same (make sure the will's in order and all that good, responsible stuff)...leave letters for my sons, and tell them to use whatever's still usable, and dispose of the rest in the cheapest, simplest way possible. Also, that I want my 'wake' to be one hell of a party! Then I'd party hearty myself, drink too much, eat everything I shouldn't and top it all off with smoking like a chimney...

If I knew I was going to die tonight I would make sure my dogs would have food and water for a day or two. I would call a friend and tell them what's up so they can get my dogs in the morning and take care of whatever needs to be done. Make a few phone calls to family then go to bed to watch TV and snuggle my dogs for a while.

I thought it a real coincidence to see this thread after I learned that about him,so thats why it was serious.
If I knew I had only one day left,I wouldnt tell my family.I would want them to remember me as who I was in life and not the moments just before I died.
I would tell my best friend that my plan is to grab a 12 pack and to find me after the day is done laying out in my hammock by the river so family wouldnt have to go through that.

If I had more time than just a few hours(I assume by "tonight", midnight would be when I would "die"), I think I'd just write a note to my family. Gather my thoughts and say farewell. If I had more time like a few days or even a week, I'd get things in order like my will. I'd then contact my family and friends to bid farewell. I would ask them not to mourn my loss. I hope they could celebrate my memory and then move on with their own lives. I would ask them to live their lives to the fullest, to learn and pass on their knowledge, and to love rather than hate.

And hold on to every precious minute and cherish it always. I have already written letters to all my children for that occasion. The first thing that ran through my mind when I found out my husband was dying was to make sure he knew how much I loved him.

Call my best friend to take my cats, then go turn off my son's game and snuggle with him and give him a lifetime's worth of motherly advice. If I had a few more days, I would have all my affairs in order too.

I'd want to live out as many of my unfullfilled dreams as possible.....inlcuding the rolling around naked in a million dollars worth of brand new bills......guess it would require breaking into a bank but what the heck....i'm gonna die...might as well be smiling
