My High School class has just started a web page and there are some pretty neat memories there and its got me thinking about stuff I did as a kid. I was thinking about the kinds of things we used to wear and how cool we thought we were. The biggies for me were wheat colored jeans with the legs pegged to make them as tight as possible, cinnamon colored pantyhose that we bought at the dime store and Senior Cords. I think I just told my age! lol
What were the trends that you followed and just HAD to have?

I have no clue..I never paid much attention to the cool kids..growing up in a large family I wore what was bought for me..and i wasn`t really interested in the latest fashions of the time..although there was one time..I earned enough to buy me a tube dress..which was in fashion then..

I guess I wasnt in the cool crowd because I never wore a neru type shirt or peace chains and the iron cross around my neck.

Define Cool? There were many different school "clicks". There were the Jocks, the Preps, the Hicks (cowboys), the wanna be gang members, the Skatters, ROTC.. And then of course my crowd, yep the long hair stoners.

Hmm...let's see. There were moon boots, skinny ties, those cheesy ass Dwayne Wayne flip-up glasses, leg warmers, shoulder pads, long strands of plastic pearls, Coca-Cola shirts, jean jackets, pegged jeans, MC Hammmer pants, and most importantly...BIG HAIR!
Edit: How could I forget anything in Day-Glow?!

Backwards clothing. I blame Kriss Kross. Haha.
Also flannel due to the Grunge era of the early to mid 90s.

I wasn't concerned with doing what everybody else did. When they were wearing painter pants and polo shirts I was wearing black leather and t-shirts. I never had any leather pants but I did wear black denim and black boots.
in fact I still do most of the time.

my fashion tragedy was in the 70's, I remember in high school, multi-colored platform shoes, the plaid cuffed bell bottoms... the acetate shirts.... the shell necklaces... yikes

I'm not sure I was exactly a cool kid, but I wore leather, studded belts and wristbands, punky hair, cheap chains, big s***kicking boots and a bad attitude.

Ocean Pacific
Panama Jack
Spuds Mackenzie
Deck shoes
Parachute pants (not with the deck shoes though)
Regardless of what was "in" at the time......the coolest kids always had on something different from the masses......thats the real key.

What the COOL kids wore was definitely different from what I wore. When they were wearing chic jeans I was just entering the bell bottom trend. (always one step behind).lol Thank God that only lasted for a month! How embarassing!
T-shirts and jeans was the norm for me. Occasionally a "girly type" shirt or blouse, but not often!! T-shirts!! Ya can't go wrong with a nice cotton t-shirt!

Can't go wrong with t-shirt and jeans. The combination has served me well ever since I was a kid.

In elementary school: white go-go boots.
In junior high: platform clogs, bell bottom hip hugger jeans with embroidery trim on the bottom and "bubble shirts".
In high school: micro mini skirts made out of an old pair of jeans (I still have one stashed away, and it has a teddy bear on the back pocket that I'd embroidered on it), hot pants, in fact, anything that was too small and too tight.
