I don't know if anyone else has noticed it recently, but I find more and more threads here are attracting judgemental people who obviously believe that their way is the only way, no matter what the subject matter of the post, and that all those people who would dare to disagree or have a different opinion must be lacking in mental awareness.

Surely this isn't a reflection on the world of today, because I rarely come across such a high percentage of arrogant, condescending and judgemental people in my daily life. So.... what is the reason for this? Is it because these people feel so secure when offering their worldly knowledge online, knowing that there are no comebacks, or is there another reason for this?

Edited to correct grammatical error.

If people are condemning others thoughts, they don't have to look at themselves. Easy to point the finger at someone else and say, they have mental problems.

I don't think they even try to interpret other people's opinions because they are so sure that their own opinion is the only one that matters. ~shakes head in...exasperation..~

there's always a difference, Cultural, Physical, Spiritual....

its a normal behavior for animals, and people to react poorly to differences...

to drive the stranger out is a survival skill...

Sometimes bullying idiots don't like it when someone won't back down to their BS. They think that just having more ranting posts, which usually not only side track but also disrupt and destroy the whole thread, actually makes their point look more valid. NOT! He who has the loudest voice does not always have the strongest argument.

I think maybe some of the reason is because the internet provides a form of anonymity that you can hide behind therefore allowing whatever you want to be said.

But I could be wrong. It's happened...........once

I agree with Stormy. It's much easier for some to believe that others are wrong than to think they might be. Or to think their opinion is the only way. Everyone has a way of life, everyone has an opinion!
Oh, and China? I think it's the moon, because everyone here is getting antsy. Not argumentative though, just antsy....wait, that might just be spring fever.

The reasons are multi fold. One being that some judgements have to be made in order to discern right from wrong, correct from incorret, what should be done from what should not be done. In that light judgements are good and necessary to day to day living.

Other types of judgements are merely opinions not necessarily facts or truths. Still everyone is entitled to those opinions even if they appear harsh or incorrct. And to feel that those that are off base with those opinions should constantly withold them and never share them is not a very realistic position. Nothing can be illuminated or elaborated on unless it is exposed. So relly if somone issues a "judgement" that you have an excetpion with then address it. If they won't listen to your point then move on. Not everyone will flex and they may be right or wrong but what ever they are in their opinions they are entitled to them until they decide to change their point of view.

As a wise person once said
Life is like a diamond, filled with many facets and you can not see the whole until you have seen each facet of it.
Unfortunately many people come to a place where they like what they see and won't look at the rest. So they get an incomplete picture of what it is all about. Furthermore none of us has a complete picture of the truth, not one person. That is Gods arena even if you don't think so. The whole truth is, has been, and always be bigger than any one person.

Loreli - I don't think this is true AT ALL!!!!! I think everyone is openminded enough to allow room for others' opinion, and that no one thinks that THEIR opinion is the only way. What really bothers me, though, is when I run across those people that DON'T have an opinion about something....or those that don't have an opinion about ANYTHING!

But if you really believe that "it's much easier for some to believe that others are wrong than to think they might be" then you probably won't believe a word of what I just said.

(uh...which is fine....cuz I don't believe it either!!!! )

Well, I haven't a clue what Jester just said, but I wholly reject his opinion. Why? Because I can!

And hey, even though I won't name names, I actually received an abusive pm today just because I stated an opinion in a thread. I was ranted at, and then told that my rants wouldn't be replied to.... ah yes, and I am rude and obnoxious, not to mention a bully and completely disruptive. Now, anyone (apart from Jester because he's too opinionated) can give their opinions on this.. am I really rude, obnoxious, a bully and disruptive, just because I state an opinion that dares to differ with someone elses?

I enjoy judging people - and laughing at people who fall down on the steps of the ski lodge.

Those are the people who vote "Don't know" in online polls. However I must admit that I voted "Don't care" in a poll about Katie Couric yesterday.

Judge others as you would be judged. Who am I to judge. I have not reached that ultimate stage of perfection where everything about me is right. The anonymity of the internet allows people to be jerks.
