"Treasure Hunting"

One of my daughters has a GPS that straps on her wrist, so my four daughters and I went hunting for geocache today....and we found it! It was so fun! One of the Travel Bug Dog Tags was attached to a pin that says "50 Happens". That did it. It was a sign that I must start this game! Jeni left her travel bug and got a new one, and I took the pin travel bug. Now I have to save up for a GPS. She said they're around $100....and then I have to figure the dang thing out! Anyway....I'm not exactly sure how it works yet, except I have to get coordinates for another cache....and take my pin there....and get another one with instructions for where it is headed.

I just signed up on the website and have to figure it all out, but what a fun way to have a "treasure hunt"! Here's the website...

If I was going to Palm Springs gathering, I could have looked for a cache in that area. That would have been cool! :)

I have a friend who is into Geocaching... he leaves 24 hour medallions in the containers...

most parks, golf courses, etc,... have two or three caches scattered...

happy hunting, its good exercise to wander the parks

I've been to the geocaching website and it does sound like a lot of fun. After doing some research on the GPS a couple of years ago, I've found that the ones for $100 are not really good for a lot other than the treasure hunting. Most of the better ones seem to start at around $250 and up, unless they have come down in price over the last couple of years.

Gbear....24-hour medallions is a great idea. Good for him! I want to start my own cache, since I don't think there's one in this town. First I need to think of a mission and where I'd want my travel bugs to go. :)

Gary, I'd only really want the GPS for this game. I'm pretty good at directions and finding my way around, otherwise. My daughter's GPS led us EXACTLY to the hiding spot. It was WAY cool!

I believe he was talking about AA medallions, but I could be wrong. :)
