I wanted to share this info with as many people as possible. I was searching the net trying to find information on converting vehicles to run on ethanol and found out that dual fuel vehicles are not new.... You don't have to buy a new Chevy to get one! Now I'm not talking conversion here (the info I found on that was disapointing) I mean cars and trucks manufactured by the major companies, that run on 85% ethanol blend (85% ethanol, 15% gas) aka e85 or unleaded interchangably. They have been makign them since at least 1995. It is possible that you might already own one, or could buy a used one. You can check here http://www.e85fuel.com/information/vin.php to find out by make and model or vin number, which ones are dual fuel.

yes ma'am, some friends of mine have Chrysler mini vans, that are e-85...
F.Y.I.
the thing that isn't good is, if you get 30 mpg with gasoline, E-85 wil only give you 20mpg.... because there isn't as much thermal energy in the alcohol....

I've been trying to figure out how to survive the gas prices with my SUV. I have to have it for my business. And bulk vending = allot of driving. I'm looking into ways to convert so I can make grain alcohol and run on it. (Yes it is legal here if you get a permit, AND there are even tax credits!) I'm thinking I might find a totalled dual fuel F-150 and swap the engine in my Bronco. Or find how to convert it to run on strait moonshine. Fortunately my second ex-husband's dad is an old moonshine runnner, so I can learn from a pro.

My Ford Ranger pick-up.......it is one! I was told it can run on 100% ethanol. It has the little two leafed green branch ensignia on the tailgate.
