This thread is created because of Always-Striving.
When you read someone's post, do you ever imagine how their voice sounds? If they have an accent? If you're from the southern States, you might likely have a "twang" to your voice? If you're from New York City ya might sound a little nasally?
He cracked off about Canadian accents (Everyone knows we don't have accents- ) and then commented how there should be a redneck thread.
When I read ChinaBull's posts? I "hear" them in a British accent. Both my parents were British so I just "hear" it that way.
Anyone else out there ever wonder about this?

I have a midwest accent.
Believe it or not, there is such a thing. I really don't have much of an accent, it was trained out of me long ago, but a speech analyst was not only able to pin down where I was from, but told me what part of Germany my dad was from.

Is this thread ABOOT accents?
He cracked off about Canadian accents (Everyone knows we don't have accents)
Yeah, I don't know why he does that. He once told me that Canadians pronounce their "ou" sound differently than Americans. All words containing the [au] sound are pronounced with something like [u] in Canadian English, for example: about, house, out, crown, plow...
They also tend to use the exclamation "eh" quite similar to the Aussie use of "ay".
They say the last letter in the alphabet as "zed" and we say it as "zee", and and to use words that Americans don't like:
tuque: a woollen hat (a more general term than the Aussie "beanie")
loonie: a one-dollar coin (so named because of the loon on the tail side)
toonie: a two-dollar coin ("two" + "loonie").
Canadians, like New Englanders, tend to use a slightly different "a" sound, in words like can't, past, dad, etc. It often, though not always, sounds a bit closer to "ah" than the general american "aa." Also, whereas the American pronunciation of the "o" in words like god, not, lot, tends to be "ah" (i.e. "gahd," "naht," "laht).
He told me that he got his information from 2 very good sources
1) The Red-Green Show
2) One of his best friends that he works with occationally
Canadian women are beautiful and gorgeous. I love-em. Sometimes they are even cuter with ear plugs.
Just kidding

I used to wonder how a perons voice may sound, when i was maybe in my 20's. But with the knowledge i have aquired at the age of 50, i now know it makes no difference as to whether their voice has an accent or is treble or bass or light or loud, we cannot tell what they like. And many people bassed on the deepeness of my voice and it's accent have always thought i liked country and western music, But i can't stand country music, i like the Beatles and Pink Floyd and ZZ top. Plus based on all of the people ive met, no only could i not tell from the sound of their voice, but also found out, it's what they say that ends up mattering also instead of the tone of their voice. Now somethings you can go by the tone, for example,.......I can relate to a negative Evil Laugh that comes from another person, as not being good....Earl

Wicked...when I first came here I didn't know you were Canadian and I don't know why but I read your posts in a southern accent.
I read bevrice's posts in a southern accent.
At first I gave motownmaniax more of a nasaly voice, I'm not sure why.
I associate Chinabull with the wrestler Tazz and so when I read his posts, even though he's british, I read it in Tazz's voice.
...I wonder what I sound like to other people?

I have a friend in California, sounds like the Valley Girl. I have a friend in Minnesoota who sounds much like Canadian. Yes Canadians DO sound different! I have a friend in BASTON (that's his accent) and a southern friend with a drawl. I don't think we all sound alike, and I also tend to think about their accent talking online!
I don't have an accent to people from here but to others...sure.
I can always tell a person from the Brooklyn/Bronx area.
It isn't just the inflection in our voice, sometimes it's the language we use. I called a female a gal once and got laughed at for some time!
And Aussie accents are HOT!

To me Lipgloss, i'll bet based on your character, you have a California Beverly Hills accent, which to me is good, because i've said many times, something about me, adapts to those people!! But i may be wrong, but i still will go by what it is they say instead, and i just blow off, what i may think as far as the other...Earl

You think so? Most of my relatives are British - that? sounds normal to me Your accent? Is just wrong.. it's just alllllllllll wrong
LipGloss.. Southern accent? Interesting. I'd sound so funny up here though talking that way but ya know what? I luv southern accents! I don't have an "accent" for you. What I do know is you're very very bright for a woman your'e age. Worldly in ways that blow me away actually.
Holding I would have never ever guessed you have a southern accent and now when I "read" your posts I'll be hearing it in the soft southen drawl of the ladies from "Ya Ya Sisterhood" and their soft flowing voices.
I am as from far south as you can be without falling in the Gulf
So this now translates into ( in my ear/mind) "Ahm as frum fawr suwth as you kin be withOWT falling in the gof"
See you don't "hear" the accent when people "write" but if you ask then you find out. I have no idea what a "Midwestern" accent would sound like. Can someone 'type" it out for me?
How you all doing now sweetheart...bless your little heart
**swoons and knees buckle** I'll be ok.
Soul? Thank you EH? (We don't really talk that way...much )
