I'm talking about LEGAL drag racing at the track...
I personally feel the "NEED FOR SPEED"..
Here's a little video of one of my runs..
BTW, 0 - 60 mph takes me about 2.5 seconds
copy and paste the url into a browser window and enjoy!!

I'm a gearhead from the word go, was brought up around stock cars and had a ride in my first one at 5. As a kid I loved the fuel altereds driven by people like Wild Willie Borsch, or pro stocks of the likes of Bill Jenkins or Sox and Martin. I never got into actually drag racing myself, instead ended up mud bogging and running SCCA GT3 cars. I like going fender to fender on a roadcourse. For years I've kept up my SCCA marshall's license and travel to various races as an official mostly for champ (as they're now called) car races.

I would enjoy drag racing...never have had the opportunity to do it professionally. I have been turning left and going fast on dirt and asphalt for 25 years in sprints, midgets, silver crown, legends and stock cars.
CR...I hear you....speed and the adrenaline rush is ALMOST as good as an orgasm.....good luck on the quarter.

The video wouldn't play. bummer. Well I used to go to the small tracks a long time ago and yes I thought it was a lot of fun! 0-60 in 2.5 seconds whew thats fast! I know someone that built their own car that went 0-100 in 6 seconds.
I don't know much about drag racing but I am game..

i like drag racing. i've always had a fascination 4 cars since youth, but i never got around to truly pursuing it. someone got me hooked on gran turismo, n i lost my mind. i remember i couldn't drift on the game, so i started watching nascar.
one day i was out in a rental car w/my stepsister n her kids. when i felt the back end of the car move, i squealed like nobody's business. my stepsister told the kids 2 buckle up. ok ok. i know i drifted off the drag racing. cars r just wow. n the guys who can hold u spellbound talking about them r wow r more, 2 (specially muscle cars).
i miss my 67 mustang.

Question for you there Corvette...There was a guy here who owned a Ferrari and he sold it because he could never get out of 1st gear in town before hitting 60. He said he could not get to 2nd without breaking a speed limit. Are these cars that wound up? I always questioned the guy anyway but I can see them being a hard car to daily drive in.
Any truth at all here? TIA!

Ferraris are just as drivable as most other sports cars. I can shift my Ferrari at 3000 RPM around town with no problems. Of course, If I'd rev the car to 7000 RPM, I'd be at 60 mph in first gear, but you usually don't drive around town at 7000 RPM.

Wanted tob add...even though my Ferrari is very drivable at lower RPM, the car only starts being "fun" above 4500 RPM..

even though i still pretty young, i have done some legal drag racing. there some tracks around my area like Dragway 42 and Norwalk where i have run the quarter mile where they allow street stock stuff. it's pretty fun! if anyone has the chance to try it, i say go for it.

I have to think about doing a few laps at the Sebring track.. It's only about 1.5 - 2 hours from where I live.. However, I wasn't really planning to race the Ferrari but that might change.. My Vette isn't setup for road racing.. The entire suspension, transmission and cooling wouldn't work for road racing...

"Corvette"....
It's a gift! It also helps that I was dropped on my head when I was a child.. the first "drop" was an accident, but my parents thought it was so funny, they figured,"What the hell!" and kept on doing it!

Used to own 2 Vettes. Bought the Ferrari only 3 weeks ago.
My '68 Vette is a high 10 second car (on a 406 small block chevy - all engine). Hope to get into the 10.60's this winter on engine.. Once I'm in the mid 10's, I'm gonna spray that sucker to run 9's.. Right now, my trap speed is around 125 mph. With spray, I should be close to 140 mph...
It's a lot of fun... Planning on running another season with my current setup before I'm gonna go with a blown big block to run low 8's with 165+ mph trap speed :D
