There has been some discussion in another thread about e-mails from "some quadrant on the other side of lost n space" (credit goes to Lecriveuse!!! TY!)

Matchdoctor has a filtering system to help weed these out (THANK YOU MATCHDOCTOR!!!). Just go to your Mail page and on the right hand side, click on Filtering. The following will appear:

Foreign User Filtering
As a preventive measure, mail from foreign users will automatically be sent to the Filtered mailbox if you signed up in the United States, Canada, or the United Kingdom. While we recognize that some foreign users are legit, a number of foreign accounts have been set up purely to scam people out of their money or to search for someone to help them obtain a visa.

Check the box and Presto!! you no longer have to suffer having them mixed in with the valid and desired mail. Though I will admit, I do check my filtered mail occasionally....it's the only form of masochism I indulge in They are an absolute riot to read!!

Soulless, I know this doesn't help you.....but, hey, maybe you could periodically share the "good ones" with those fortunate people that don't get any Junk Mail!!!

Also beware that some of these emailers say in their profile that they are from the states, but working in a foreign country to get around that filter. I can't tell you how many Nigerian men who live in Ohio but are working in Africa have emailed me. Looking for their one true love they can love forever.

I like wasting thier time. I wrote back to her/him tonight. I played one out for almost 4 months last winter. She finally got pissed off and started demanding money and even threatened to sue me for it.

Guys that fall for those scams do so because they want a young beautiful and obedient stepford wife and the scammers tell them exactly what they want to hear. I screw them up because I don't want an obedient wife.

One was sending me pictures of Paris Hilton claiming it was her so I sent her pictures of Tom Cruise. I even slipped in pictures of Andy Rooney, Bill Cosby and Penn and Teller. She never skipped a beat or even mentioned it.

Spongebob.....As I said earlier, maybe you are the exception and this sweet, young, beautiful model (61 yr. old has-been Sumu wrestler)from the Eukraine persuing you is sincere (yeah, right ).

I know that you want the same idyllic life as Nastya, and believe me, I would be very happy for you to have that. However, I don't want to see you hurt (or bankrupt ), so I only ask for your own sake, please, do not let this become a whirlwind romance!!!

Sometimes, a man can become so dazzled (bamboozled) that he gets caught up in a romance (scam) and can easily become blinded (taken) by the fireworks. Nastya writes so eloquently, however, I am concerned about what she is actually saying!!!
A quick example:

I also have been thinking a lot that if I really meet the person, I have been looking for, then I will have to leave for abroad and I even had a serious talk with my parents on this topic, and so I came to the conclusion, that it doesn't matter where to live, because the main thing is with whom.

Could really mean: I know that if I find a sucker, I'm the hell outta here and getting my greencard!! My parents informed me that I must sacrifice myself so that I may be the passport for the entire family to get to America. I need to know that you are wealthy and therefore, able to support not only myself, but my nearest 16 family members (oh, we also have a few livestock)...we do not care what part of the country you live in, just be aware that I'm only part of the package!
*******
Spongie, be careful and remember, we're here if you'd like some input!!!!!

Keep sharing the letters.....they're hilarious!!!

Boah women are just as bad as the guys ... i had one letter sent to me by 20 different profiles ... to the dot identical ...

Let me tell you in some countries they have offices that do that for the men cause they barely speak english and well the people hired to do that dont either ...

I happen to know how the system works had a close look into it when an aquaintance i met here in germany, let me look into their work ...

Yes, people here in germany from african decent have whole rings that do this and the guys and gals pay a fees for that huge amounts of money is made of some of these people.

I know that Md was used for one ring in germany ...mind you most users are so aware of this, that the chances for these poor people are basically nill. But the pay huge fees. I thats why i react so harshly when i get those letters. Did you know that the goverment in nigeria encourages this, and definately helps with paperwork quickly if promised that funds are sent back to nigeria and or they return later with the earned and safed funds to invest into their country. Even the goverments there ask huge fees sometimes to fill out and sign paperwork. Did you know that some are even married in nigeria and with a bid of cash the goverment will say its not so. Did you know that in kenia the parents sell of the daughters ( ages 14 -16) to white men for a house and lot. They guys will vacation there while the girls are underaged and build the houses in those years waiting of course the girl is pushed by the parents to be nice even become lover of such men. ( my Friend told thats what her parents did she is just going through a terrible time cause she was not treated like a human from her husband but a mere slave ) The girls are instilled they have to take care of the elders honor them and obey.

Same with Easter block girls ( russian poland and so forth ) Have you ever noticed the high quality pictures these girls actually are in an agency they pay ( in these cases the whole family pays years of wages ) mainly its nothing but Money making sceam ...

So even tho i dont like them and they upset me, i wont simply responde anymore.

Sad what a lil more comfort will do, sorry to say but the western world is at fault.

We shove money into these countries for education , food and jobtraining but then dont oversee where funds go ... ( not watching what corrupted politicians do with these funds ) in the same token the poor get to see the so called glorious life of western society on the big screens of the world.

Can you blame them to wnat a lil of the pie ...not really if the goverments of those countries would use the monies sent to them in Foreign aid and try to develope their own countries you wouldnt need this ... sad but true ...

I'm really quite bothered by the whole deal Souless. Real people are harmed by the scammers. I have the least sympathy for the scammers and the men who fall for the scams. The men who fall for the scams are usually looking for an obedient wife and that's just pathetic. They deserve to lose thier money in my opinion. The scammers themselves are simply dishonest and thieves.

I think the honest majority who live in the countries where the scams operate are harmed the most. It gives you honest people a bad name. One of my "real" friends in Russia tells me that women are often forced into bad situations there. One scam she tells me about is where a woman goes to an agency and pays them a huge sum of money. The woman is allowed to use the service to seek a man she likes and even allowed to contact him and write for a while. Then the sevice steps in and tells the woman that the man has stopped writing. In reality the agency intercepts the letters from the man and begins writing to him as if they were the real woman. Meanwhile the real woman is urged to upgrade her service for a fee.

There are huge dangers for women who actually do come here as well. I have a Russian friend living down the street from me that I met online. We decided that we weren't right for each other but remained friends. She met another man who claimed to be "a sucessful businessman" and came to be with him. What she found when she got here was an abusive drug addict who tried to force her into prostitution. I had convinced her to memorize my phone number and within a week she called for help in the middle of the night. She had been severely beaten, raped and forcibly injected with drugs. Today she's on the road to citizenship, she has a good job, a nice apartment, and lots of new friends.

It can be dangerous for a man to go somewhere to meet a woman as well. I had a girl try to convince me to go to Chechnya of all places. She even gave me names and adresses of people to sneak me past the Russian military. I handed that info over to our FBI.

The reason the scams don't work on me is because I don't want an obedient wife. I like "real" Russian and eastern European women because they aren't obedient. I want someone who will stand up to me when I'm being a jerk. I want a woman with an opinion.

Think I should tell her that I got a check from the insurance company for $30,000 today?

She could probably retire on 30 grand. I think an American dollar is worth around 28 Russian rubles.

Not even an American woman will be seeing any of that money even if she shows up at the door. That's about half of my new house.

I wrote back and said send $$$ He did NOT READ my profile or else he would've KNOWN Im not inteterested in his race. I really wish guys would (not all) pay attention to DETAIL, we women don't write the words in our profiles just to use up the required keystrokes

I've done that myself just becasue I liked a catchy line in a guys profile, and not to be necessarily trying to flirt but just being genuinely nice. I don't alway's have a motive.
