I love a buffet only when it come's to chinese food.. I would prefer a sit down restaurant when it come's to everything else. I will go to a chinese buffet at least twice a week.

I often find an a la carte menu very unsatisfying, but a good quality buffet can be delicious!!

I don't know about you, Sweet, but I normally go to a restaurant to eat.
Let her enjoy her meal (unless she eats like Jethro Bodene on Beverly Hillbillies)

I can't really do a buffet justice.. since I cannot eat very much at a sitting.. so I guess menu style works for me better.. although, with buffet, I can eat slow and take my time and go back for seconds

Sometimes I embarass myself (and others) because I'm NOT the "picky-eater/cheap date" I appear to be -- I'm a card carrying member of the "clean plate club" Hey, when one only eats once or twice a week...
I actually prefer a "menu" style of dining (sometimes I just order two appetizers One if they're extra large...so I can have room for DESSERT!!) But with all the "reasonable" Casino buffets around here, I've found they're great places if one just wants to EAT.
From my own point of view (not a man's) I've never seen the allure in women making a pretense of "just picking" or "I'll just have a small salad" -- it's often "fake" and "SELF-delusional". If one is hungry, just EAT -- everyone HAS to, eventually. Might as well do it while in good company

I agree with walkingman that buffett is the way to go for chinese...
I much prefer a sit down restaurant when I go out to dinner..which isn't often...but...when they allow..I do order from the kiddie menu...and still take home leftovers..lol one of the perks of weight loss surgery

when I first got to china, I was like, what the hell is this? I've gotten use to it(chinese buffet). it's palatable, incredibly inexpensive and most importantly healthy

Like Painter, I'm a big eater as well. So, I tend to stay away from the buffets.
If I do go, it's our little (and I mean small) local Indian and Korean lunch spots. Chinese, Italian, and American ones (and the people who eat there) are so much the wheelbarrow type, it makes me want to .
I much rather go to a fine restaurant with something cooked especially for me!

Ditto! I don't like the idea of not only the restaurant staff pawing my food, but half the restaurant patrons pawing it also! The sneeze guard is not enough!

well I dont know that i should talk about this BUT a few years ago at a very well known chain restaurant ( initials OG) i ordered the swordfish off the menu and I was very ill for 3 days and spent the night in a local Hospital with major bad food poisoning... they after that removed the swordfish from the menu( paid for my hospital bills and etc) and i havent went back to that place.. and that wasnt a buffet so I will stick to my buffets... or other restaurants.. ( and i dont go anywhere near swordfish) sweet N Louisiana

Sit down restaurant for me. Even the Chinese buffets are nice once in awhile though. I want a menu. With the price of bufftes now days, I can't do them justice unless we sit there for a couple of hours.

I like alacarte with a dessert buffet -- When I worked downtown, there was a place I frequented for lunch with that setup. Mmmmm -- Chocolate mousse cake AND strawberries with hot fudge sauce AND maybe even some cheesecake with that...oops major dessert cravings now...Black Forest cake...

I like both, but if I would have to choose, it would be buffet.
We have a place here called Ryan's. ( Don't really know what other states
have them).
The buffet there is great. They have them in sections. There is the hot foods
and meat... The salads... and The desserts. There is also a carving station
with different meats in the center.
Each one is very large and they have just about anything you would want.
I may just have to have dinner there tomorrow...
