Posts: 928 I will teach my children exactly what Christmas is. It's a day all about statistics and retail sales.
On Christmas eve I saw a 40yo man at the bottom of the big hill in my town yelling at cars and trying to kick them as they pass. I see something like this every year. I can picture this little boy enjoying the very temporary magic of Christmas. Later as a man who can't hold it together the holidays is when he snaps. On my return trip he was in a cop car.
Gone are the days when life was simple and we could let kids enjoy the magic of Christmas. It just messes them up now. I know few will snap like welfare boy. I view the world more scientifically and don't do the whole fairy tale thing. A childs mind will indulge in enough fairy tales without giving parental support to one.
I know Bahh humbug.

thats so sad eyesofastranger, shame so many have lost the true meaning of xmas...to me its all about family and friends, and for the kids!! but its ur give right to be a scrooge if ya want to..lol

Posts: 928 Christmas at our house. Just for fun legz you seem stable.
First day of the holidays we would sign Mom out of the hospital and drag all her machines and medicine home. We would erect a tinder box and string it with electricly buzzing lights then stoke it at the base with paper enhanced fire starters.
Then we worship it every day it didn't wipe us out. Dad would buy 2 of whatever he bought for me and deliver one to my long forgotten cousin to say.... yeah! I remember you ya little bastard.
By xmas day Dad's nerves where shot. Perfect time to start an all day 7 course dinner project. Mom couldn't eat anything that didn't come from a blender. But he tried to bring some normality to our family.
When i entered the work force Christmas brought huge fights among the females for extra work hours. The reason always the same. I just need MONEY to give my kids a good CHRISTMAS. I still cook a giant chicken and enjoy a family dinner but the words money and christmas aren't joined at my house. This year was my baby's first christmas and i have pics of her opening her fire starters next to the dry tinder array. The tree is at a relatives house.

Posts: 38 Awwww thats sad eyesofastranger. your daughter has love and thats something no one can take away from.
your xmas wasnt totally bad...you had your family and im pretty sure you love your little girl very much.
my health is pretty bad and im far from rich but the one thing i do have is the love of my family and friends. alot of people may think thats stupid or corny but they are the reason i dont just give up.
this is a new year and i hope its a good one for you. take care

Posts: 928 You thought my story was sad?? That was never my intent legz. Our loving family got together every Christmas despite obvious difficulties and enjoyed being together. So my choices in life are feel sorry for myself?and shut down and blame my past? How weak and self absorbed. I was a normal kid and my family was, the way it was. Maybe it made me a bit too practical. That's not a bad result.
A lot of people have lost what really matters in the world. I hope the best for you. Don't see my story as sad. The little boy in the story never thought anything was wrong.
