Okay, I'm a female and I love sci-fi.I'm into Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, Buffy, Angel, Supernatural, ghostwhisper, smallville, and stargate sg1. I love the paranoraml too.
I'm told I'm strange. Or just really rare. When I checked out the forum, I didn't see anything on sci-fi.
So, tell me your thoughts and let's get one started...

of course Star Trek has to be the best sci-fi series of all time (all of them except deep space nine)
Of the newest ones I like "Surface" the best. I thought Threshold was good to begin with, but I'm loosing interest in it now. "Medium" is pretty good too!

There's been some awesome sci-fi over the years, but for my money the best series is the original Outer Limits. The creepy intro, "WE control the horizontal...WE control the vertical...", atmospheric music, topnotch stories, etc, still beats 99% of what's out today. Even with the cheesy special effects I'd watch those old B&W episodes until Doomsday! Not a huge fan of the Outer Limits remake....too derivitive.
I'd give the original "Twilight Zone" a close second because they had many sci-fi themes, but the overall series wouldn't what you'd call "pure" sci-fi. It WOULD qualify as one of the best series in any genre, though.
Loved Farscape!!

Oh yessss....especially early Farscape. It's actually available here anyway, on a local channel. And Nuty, there are plenty of us females who not only like it, but write it.
And of course, you can't beat the purely campy ones (like MST3K, of course!!) for laughs.

I love the really old stuff. Before it got hi-tech. Like the old Buck Rogers. Half the fun was looking for the wires that the spaceship was hanging by. And road flares were the pyro of choice.

Just TRY dragging me away from anything of that Genre, .
I've got a nice collection of books, DVD's and art all devoted to the Sci-Fi/Fantasy genre.
Right now, I am waiting for the Holy Trinity (SG1 etc) to come back on Sci-Fi in Jan. BG is going to rock!
I also just this last week read the latest installment of the Wheel of Time books, by Robert Jordan. Good read..better then his last couple things.
