As we approach the new year I'd like to know if anyone has some favorite movies of 2005. I know that goes back a ways and memories are short, so to jog your memory please go to imdb dot com and feel free to peruse the charts (on the main page, there should be a link that says "Top Movies", which will take you to a page that has archive material for the year).
According to Hollywood this has been a very disappointing year, but there have been some good films.

Just watched "Around the Bend" and loved it! great cast of characters. Think it was a new release, not sure tho...

I've heard of that movie, Wanda, and found a comment that's illuminating from the film's composer...
I was the composer on this film, and while I recognise that that fact may taint me as blindly partisan on its behalf, I still have to say that
A) I have never seen audiences respond with such obvious affection and warmth towards anything that I've ever worked on, (even including my terminally unemotional engineer, who actually cried, something I never expected in a million years that I would ever see, and doubt that I will again. )

Cool pix, wayman. 
Wondering if Million Dollar Baby would be considered 2004? I know it came out on video in 2005 so close enough.
I've gotta check out Last Days and Broken Flowers.
Oh, completely forgot about 40-yr-old Virgin!..lol. Loved that movie. There were a group of older ladies behind me when I saw it in the theatre and they giggled like school kids the whole time. The Bollywood ending was just jaw dropping!(lol) Great fun had by all.

IIRC, MDB came out in December in the major markets so it could be considered for Oscar contention in 2004, which means it was screened and partially released, but most people didn't get around to seeing it until January at the earliest.

"Rent" would have to be my top pick....

I saw Rent on stage....great musical. If the movie is even half as good I'm looking forward to it.
Peter Jackson's remake of King Kong is also coming out soon, just in time to sneak in and be included in 2005, so I may have amend my choices...lol.
Somebody please pass the popcorn.

I've got a feeling "King Kong" is gonna be a blockbuster. I haven't read one early review that wasn't ga-ga over it. Opens today!!!
I know where I'LL be for three hours after work (grin).
