So, who all have you seen perform live and who was the best. Back in the mid to late 70's and on through the 80's we hit the concert trail quite often. Just to name a few:
Marshall Tucker and Charlie Daniels Kansas Boston Ted Nugent Lynyrd Skynyrd Bob Seger and The Silver Bullet Band John Cougar Mellencamp Foreigner Golden Earring ( The best drummer I have ever seen) Thin Lizzy Van Halen ( With David Lee Roth) David Gates and Bread Areosmith Bad Company Mothers Finest Doobie Brothers Molly Hatchet 38 Special Atlanta Rhythm Section
It's tough to name the best as they were all good. There were more that we hit but due to brain muddle these were all I could think of at the time. Here are some links that should be of interest to any lovers of 70's Rock.

I've been to a bunch of concerts... but I think the best were Eric Clapton -461 Ocean Blvd tour.. I think I was 16 years old then.. and I saw the Moody Blues in Charlotte outdoor arena and then saw them the next week in the Greensboro Coliseum.. about 8 years ago.. they were superb!

I forgot to mention:
Frank Zappa at RPI Fieldhouse in Troy NY Nov.1976
Almost like a best of FZ live setlist. Stinkfoot, Dinah Moe Humm, Muffin Man, Camarillo Brillo, stuff from the yet unreleased "Zoot Allures" and "Zappa In New York" albums... I remember watching Frank playing a seemingly endless "Black Napkins" guitar solo near the end of the show. This was a rare line-up that featured Lady Bianca (Bianca Thornton) as part of the band. "The Torture Never Stops" was a highlight of the concert.
Hot Tuna at the Palace Theater in Albany NY 1977...
If only I could find a recording of this amazing concert. They must have played for 3 hours! No acoustic set, all electric. They even played a couple from the Jefferson Airplane days.

so many, of corse you always remember your first...Chuck Berry at Senior Night at Six Flags Over Georgia...but one show I remember...back in the Urban Cowboy days...Mickey Gilley opened, then Johnny Lee, then the CDB...Charlie Daniels played his guitar an hour and a half BEFORE he even picked up his fiddle. then they played another hour, went off and came back and played 45 minutes of Gospel as an encore...I think I paid about $7 for that ticket...

When I was in high school, went to see the Allman Brothers at the Macon city auditorum. Great concert .... but even better it was when all the original members were still alive.

What have I seen? Began in '78 with Rush doing Hemispheres (still have the shirt, 'n'yeah, it doesn't fit any more). Streetheart twice, awesome Canadian band. Toronto and the Headpins at a ski hill. Prism three times, arena, bar, and outdoors. Triumph...nice, there's a memorable moment when the stage is dark and the strobe is synched to the guitar solo in The Blinding Light Show. The Stones, Kiss, Scorpions, Queensryche, Guns and Roses, Boston, Angel City Bowie twice, Glass Spider and Reality. The second time was more disappointing in that we're now under the (tobacco) smoking ban and I couldn't partake of the atmosphere of the second hand weed. Ironically, likewise with the Doobie Bros. Boston, Alice Coooper, Nazareth (the lead singer played bagpipes??? I thought it was a synth, or effects), ZZTop, great concert, shame I lost the 'keychain' years later. Nik Kershaw in a community centre, as he played all of Human Racing (not re-released on CD - bogus!, ditto for Angel City's Darkroom). There are many others that are under the mental radar right now. I kept the ticket stubs whenever I could. So...bands...I'd probably rate ZZTop or Streetheart as the best overall. (And I guess the late great Harry Chapin, Weird Al past his Best Before expiry date, and "Cats" don't qualify).

The complete list would be pretty long, but my favorite concerts
Jethro Tull - Aqualung tour, it was my first concert. Pink Floyd BB King Peter Frampton Eric Clapton Bruce Springsteen
BTW, the worst had to be Uriah Heep, followed closely by Cher, with Cindy Lauper as the opening act. It was brutal.
