Posts: 37 I initially saw this cause of Natalie Portman but it turned out to be good overall in general. It also made me curious about the British monarch. Does anyone know why there is no king today? Will there be one? When when the monarch stripped of its political power? Also, why is Canada, which I thought was a product of France practically under British monarch? Thanks! I looked it up in google but couldn't find the answer I was looking for (the correct answer of course)! ;)

The monarchy is passed down to the eldest son ... it was passed to Elizabeth as she had no brothers & was the oldest child . The husband of a Queen is never a King but given title of Duke. She really does not hold any power any longer.

Think Mary Queen of Scots or Queen Elizabeth daughter of Henry 8th ... there were no kings around then either strong women

I loved the film .. The Other Boleyn Girl .. Natalie Portman & Scarlett were both great
& the costumes & cinematography were beautiful

( the historical facts were suspect but who cares )
