I've always viewed vampires as tragic figures.
My guilty confession. I watched the entire Vampire Slayer series and Never cared much for Buffy. (Willow thrilled my gorrilla)

I'm the same way but I always liked Freddy Kruger.
Something about being removed from the sunlight forever just tears my heart out.

I totally understand the feeling of being removed from sunlight. I'm definetly one that could suffer from SAD. Just a happier person when the sunshines!!
As for the scary movies, I can't even watch the previews on tv! I'm a big scardy cat!!

I love vampire movies. I really like female vampires. Carmen Electra, Angie Everhart, Amanda Bearse, Sasha Graham, and Laura McLauchlin are really hot all vamped out.

I have to agree with Warrior on this one, there is something extremely erotic and alluring about female Vampires...... especially 'Lilith Silver' from 'Razor Blade Smile'.
I come from a small town on the North-East coast of England, just a short drive away from Whitby, which is the place where Dracula fled to in Bram Stokers original novel..............

I've always had an odd fascination with vampires.
My favorite movies are Underworld, Underworld: Evolution, the Blade movies, and Bram Stoker's Dracula (with Winona Ryder).

Hope, our reading and movie tastes are so similar!!
You named all my favorite books/series--Kenyon's Dark Hunter series, Hamilton's Anita Blake, Charlaine Harris' Sookie, Christine Feehan's Carpathians, Amanda Ashley's books. I have all the series, and have read them all more than once (I read all the time).
It's interesting how each author imbues vampires with a different set of powers, limitations, and whatnot. Some have to sleep in daylight, and burn in the sun, some don't; some can go invisible, or change into mist, or shapechange into animals, or whatever the author wants them to be able to do.
...and the list goes on and on...werewolves, vampires, shapeshifters, witches... I am currently reading the third book by Rosemary Laurey (Be Mine Forever).
Have you read the P.N. Elrod series, involving a vamp detective (Jack Fleming)? It's set back in the 1920's, I think, and is pretty interesting.
Buffy and Charmed are favorite TV series, along with Highlander (not vamp, but pretty supernatural...:-), Xena, Hercules, and practically any Sci-Fi (I loved "Firefly" series and its "finale" movie, Serenity).
Movies: Blade movies, Underworld movies, and most Sci-Fi movies top my list!

the fact that there are no set in stone rules is one of the things i like about vamp stories - you can have 12 writers - same basic topic - 12 totally different points of view . i have read the p.n. elrod books for both jack flemming & jonathan barret . i was the only one in my class to read greek myths in grade school , so of course i got a kick out of herc/ xena tv shows( highlander is awesome too- and -adrian paul's after highlander show -tracker- ) . have read( vamp stuff) - sherrilyn kenyon- dark hunters - nancy kilpatrick- near death- maggie shayne wings in the night books --l.j. smith's nightworld series -james m.thomson- christine feehan- scott ciencin- amanda ashley- lynsay sands - laurell k. hamilton - mary janice davidson- charlaine harris - jay & don davis- karen e. taylor - linda lael miller- tanya huff- lori herter - windy haley - and- a few others that were only one book and not series sets . (((( i love to read )))) if the story is well writen and i have the time to spare i can read a book in 1-to- 2 days .

I got Laurey's Be Mine Forever off of half.com-- I also got the Feehan's Carpathian series from there (most of 'em, anyway). Ditto for Amanda Ashley's vamp books.
I had forgotten about Maggie Shayne's books...I got them all, too, mostly from half.com. You can find most any book you want there, and usually at a good price. They recently went up, though, but if I want a book, and they're the only place I can find it, well, I just bite the bullet and order it.
I love to read, also! I carry a book with my at all times. Currently, I have Lori Handeland's latest, Crescent Moon, in my purse, ready to accompany me to lunch. Have you read hers? They're werewolf-oriented. This is the fourth in the series.

I read Elrod's Jonathan Barret books also, but did not like them as well as Jack Flemming. I don't recall exactly why, maybe I need to go back and read them again.
I also started with a later Jack Flemming book (could have been 2 or 3) and was happy to find #1, as it provides the background of how he was changed, how he met his girlfriend, etc.
You have mentioned several authors I haven't read yet, so thanks for the good leads!
