I am curious about what everyone tthink's of Lifetime? I love watching the movie's on there. I may take some kidding from the guy's. My teenage daughter's have have have watched many that have been beneficial to them. I just find the movie's great because most are based on true life storie's.

Lifetime is too fraught with drama for my taste. Too depressing.

I have nick-named Lifetime "The Tragedy Channel" Every movie on it is about some woman who was either raped, abused or otherwised mistreated by a man. There is rarely a program on it that porttrays men in a positive light. Further, their advertisers are extremely left-winged and biased and many ads on the channel have actually been the shock oriented type designed soley to promote a victim mentality with exagerated statistics and pure slander. The message is one-sided, plain and simple. The real tragedy about it is the millions of women and young girls who watch and become more and more calussed about men every day by being exposed to a portrayal of all men as evil sexual predators or abusive alcoholics or murderers...There, I've said my peace, now I'll get off my soapbox..

My feeling about this particular cable channel can be summed up by what I saw on Family Guy once...
they had The Lifetime Channel on and the voiceover for the lead-in to a commercial said...
"Lifetime.... television for idiots"

I think the movies are great! They cover topics such as rape, stalking, murder, eating disorders, and all kinds of other real life topics. Because of this, I find them truly educational and full of "survival" tips. I think you have to think like a criminal in order to come up with all the ways to avoid them and keep yourself safe. Since I'm not a cirminal, I think a lot can be learned from the stories of tragedy that other people have lived through so that you can avoid the same fate. Some of the movies are very inspirational and provide motivation just when we need it the most. Also, there are some topics that aren't violent but allow us to see disorders/dysfunction through another's eyes. Empathy is a great skill to master...

To a certain degree "Lifetime"..does seem to have more movies on tragedies.
But, on the other hand what channel doesn't...look at some of the most popular television shows now...C.S.I....Law and Order....Cold Case files etc.
Ambulance Girl with Kathy Bates..was a movie about someone wanting to turn a dream into reality..
And another great movie from Lifetime was a fantasitc movie called "Chiefs"..and if you haven't seen this...see it...
