Now we're talkin'! I've loved horror movies ever since hiding behind the sofa whilst watching the 1931 'Frankenstein', I think I was around 8 yrs old. Then after getting somewhat used to the Karloff, Lugosi and Chaney movies, I was again scared s***less by the British Hammer movie 'Dracula Has Risen From The Grave', the end sequence where Dracula gets impaled on that cross gave me many a restless night. I still think 'The Exorcist' takes some beating and it's now well over 20 yrs old.

My hide behind the couch movie was an old version of Dracula (that I haven't been able to find since) that came on tv when I was really young. Might explain why I'm a nut about vampire movies even now. But I like really scary movies. As cute as they are, movies like Scream just don't do it for me. Maybe that's why I've become so taken with a lot of the Asian horror movies. Course the American remakes are not all that great, although I think they really did try with The Ring. Still haven't seen Dark Water, but I've heard it's not so good.

I know what you mean about the Hollywood remakes. I have the Japanese versions of 'Ring' and 'Ring 2' and they just have that chilling something the remakes don't have. We had another good Japanese/S Korean movie on tv a couple of nights ago called 'Audition'. Have you seen that one?

I've been wanting to watch Audition forever, but haven't wanted to invest in something like Netflicks so that I can rent it. It's certainly not at our local Blockbuster, lol. I also LOVED The Shining. Made me freak whenever I watch something with creepy children in it. I think that Hellraiser 2 was the best of that whole series. Odd when a sequel is better than the original. Most of the Stephen King movies are kind of lame, especially the "new" ones. Although I did like the ABC version of The Stand. Halloween is a classic too. I like obscure horror movies too. Have any of you ever watched Eyes of Fire or Company of Wolves? I finally found Company of Wolves on video but haven't seen Eyes of Fire in a Long time. It was one of those movies that came out when VHS was first becoming popular.

Panther, I haven't seen 'Eyes Of Fire' but I remember seeing 'Company Of Wolves' many years ago. If I remember right, it was like a very dark fairy tale, a sort of 'X' rated Hans Christian Andersen or Brothers Grimm. I like the S.King stuff even though like you say, they can be a little lame, my favourites are 'The Stand', 'Storm Of The Century' and 'NightFlyer'. I must admit I am a fan of Clive Barker's Hellraiser series, especially 1 & 2, and 'Nightbreed' was quite good also.

Has anyone seen The Skeleton Key? I've been wanting to see it, and it's out on DVD this week. Didn't know if I should invest my hard earned dollars on it or not. I got Charlie and the Chocolate Factory last week. Reminded me why I want to marry Johnny Depp, lol.

Is The Piano considered a horror movie? Or was it just that older guy's butt that made it that? If so, I nominate The Crying Game.

NOTLD was a monument at it's time. It was both over the top and just the right amount scary. And it was something that no one had really ever seen. Still a classic. Didn't like the remake though.
