Pantera's great (props to ya, Dime, wherever you are); ...And Justice For All was Metallica's last truly great album (the black album was good, but not great, and everything after that sucked); I've been really turned on to Slipknot and Mudvayne the last couple of years, System of a Down, Ministry, and Megadeth are cool too.
Rob Zombie's Hellbilly Deluxe is one of my favorite album ever (metal or otherwise).
Tool has to be one of my favorite bands of all time, but Sabbath rules them all.

I've noticed that a lot of new metal artists can't seem to say words. Atreyu, As I Lay Dying, and Lamb of God come to mind. I find it hilarious that they put lyrics in the cd-book things but there really aren't any lyrics...I also think the sound is horrid.
Old metal is pretty good.

Hm, let's see..
Pantera - Far Beyond Driven album is the best, IMO. The best song would have to be "I'm Broken". That damn song kicks so much ass.
Metallica - Meh.
Slayer - I'm not really into them, I've listened to a couple songs but nothing.
Lamb of God - New American Gospel FTW! Best song is between Ruin and 11th Hour
Deftones (Might not be in the same category as the others but...) White Pony is the best album and "Back to School" is their best song.
Strapping Young Lad - Critic!!!
It's not my complete list but they are what I listen to most of all when it comes to Metal.

I used to listen to metal exclusively. I'm not listen to all that much metal these days and think that most of the metal scene is littered with clone bands. However, of the current bands out there I'm enjoying Pelican, Boris, Mastodon, Solefald, Opeth, Devin Townsend, The Provenance and a few others I can't think of at the moment.

When Tool was Industio-Metal, I like them.
Metallica was good until they became too obsessed with money and suing their fans.
Def Leppard isn't pure metal, but I'll throw them in there as well.

Metallica- anything from 1982-1994
Slayer- "Seasons In The Abyss" and anything before that
Pantera- "Cowboys From Hell" and pretty much anything after that
White Zombie/Rob Zombie- A few songs here and there
Megadeth- has some cool stuff but I have always hated Dave's voice.

Do you mean Industrial? I've not heard them perfrom anything Industrial... and they're often called Progressive Metal, I just call them repetitive and boring, I'll listen to "Schism" and maybe a few other songs... but that's all I really need to know what the rest of their body of music sounds like.
I like Industrial Metal most... more in particular, Aggro-Industrial:

Hypofixx - "From Man to Machine"
Cyanotic - "Transhuman"
The Electric Hellfire Club - "Electronomicon"
Particle Son - "Re:Version"
Hanzel Und Gretyl - "Uber Alles"

Yes, I'm a metal fan, but not so much a fan of Pantera and Slayer. Metallica is good but I like a lot of other bands more.

I really like a lot of metal bands. If fact I used to be a metal DJ at a local college radio station. Well the metal bands that I like are Iron Maiden, Nevermore, Soilwork, Darkane, Type-O-Negative, Carnivore (Peter Steele's old band), Iced Earth, Sentenced, Fear Factory, Kill Switchengage, High On Fire, Trivium, All That Remains, Himsa, Death, Destruction, Sodom, Napalm Death, Obituary, Testament, Over Kill, Nuclear Assault, Metal Church, Armored Saint, Sacred Reich, Bolt Thrower, Carass, Kreator, Dio, Wasp, Dark Tranquility, Black Sabbath (post Ozzy era), Beyond The Embrace, Anthrax, In Flames, Kataklysm, and a host of others that I can't seem to rattle off my head.

I love metal, old and new! I love the sounds of Pantera, Metallica, Nightwish, Rammstein, Korn, Kamelot, Opeth, Lamb of God, Manson, Cradle of Filth, Queen, KISS, Rob Zombie, Ozzy, Judas Priest, Steve Vai, and way too many more. Let's just I love metal.

One of the best Pantera albums: Vulgar Display Of Power..love that one
Slayer: Hell Awaits: First album I ever bought by them.
Metallica: All of the 80s albums: Master of Puppets..I lean toward
Metal bands today..I just cant get into all the screamer bands..just sounds the same to me. I like to hear the vocals..with a few screams..haha ..But still alot of those bands have cool rythems, fast , furious..amp blowing..so I can listen to them..for that. Alot of Slayer influence I hear
