This movie was good.
Kiera Knightly could not be hotter! She was easy to forget in the first movie.
They did a cheeseball way of setting up multiple cliff hangers for the next installment.

It was a good movie, but it could have been about 30 minutes shorter.
Then again, 2.5 hours of Johnny Depp is pretty good watching.

I saw it today and it appears to be more in lines with a chick flick rather than an adventure movie. A few special affects are o.k. Johnny Depp says the F-word once mid-way through the movie as he is falling during his cannibal chase.

I didn't catch the F-word. Are you sure that is what he was saying? I saw it last night and enjoyed it very much. I am glad I watched the original the night before I went. Very amusing and entertaining. Definitely worth the price of admission. Johnny Depp is such a great actor!

I think the best thing about Johnny Depp movies is that you never know what kind of character you're going to get with one of his movies. He's so adaptable. And it doesn't hurt that the man is beautiful.
That's actually my pet peeve against Tom Cruise. I have to have a really good reason to see one of his movies, because I know he's always the same guy -- smart ass, wide-eyed grin he thinks is so sexy. Ick.

After the whole "couch jumping" thing, I sorta lost my yen for Tom Cruise.

i have mixed emotions about his movie and i think it was because the movie had such a build up that it couldn't possibly live up to the build up...at least not for me
i kept wanting the movie to get somewhere and it seemed all it did was set everything up (or the stage) for the third installment...
i enjoyed it and will probably see it again, own it when it hits dvd...etc...but i think the first one was wayyyyy better...
the redeeming quality in this one was the although i love both johnny depp and orlando bloom...lately i've been leaning towards orlando - ok running full throttle towards orlando...and he was very much spotlighted in this movie

I do realize it was a set up for the third, but I laughed out loud in several places and just found it very entertaining.

The narration was a huge problem, the only good part was the costuming. Some of the special effects and jokes were creative, but ultimately, it was too long and too action driven.
The first movie was much better.

This post relates more to the first movie..But I just saw the first Pirates... I have a little disagreement with a friend..I say that the Pirates were dead and were ghosts therefore couldn't be harmed...my friend say they weren't they were under a spell and they were kept under the spell by not having all the coins in the chest. The new toys from McDonalds seem to strengthen my point the one looks like a skeleton Captain Jack..My friend refuses to admit that I may be right..She just says I saw the second one you didn't..So what do you guys think? They were dead right?

Dead Man's Chest was on regular TV not long after the second movie came out.
The pirates from the Black Pearl were condemned to a half-existence because there was gold missing from the Dead Man's Chest. They were stuck between dead and undead, until all the gold was returned to the chest, and cutie's character....geez, what's his name...the elf.....Orlando Bloom!...he had the missing piece of gold (his father had given it to him). Once that final piece was dropped in the chest, the Black Pearl pirates did become mortal, and that's why when the captain (can't remember his name) was shot by Jack, he bled and fell back and it was assumed he died then. The other pirates were fighting the English on the ship that had come to rescue the whatshername and Bloom, and once that final piece of gold dropped, they, too, became mortal and had to do a Monty Python "Run away!" impression real quick.
The last we saw of the captain of the Black Pearl (not Jack) was him lying on the gold, bleeding to death or dead. Now, of course, he's back and he'll lead the search for Jack in PotC3.
How's that for a plot summary?

Well, Jack stole the Black Pearl from the captain he ended up killing...what is that captain's name? Anyone know?
And, I got the titles of my movies mixed up. Dead Man's Chest, obviously, is the second movie. Curse of the Black Pearl was the first movie. Duh

Yup it is! And the second movie does pick up where the first left off, maybe a few months afterwards.
