Hi, I'm a USA female and I'm wondering why UK men (mostly England) bother winking at me? I'm not at all b!tching, just curious. I'm aware of the differences in points of view between UK and USA people.....so advice, please: Would winking back be the polite thing to do or would it be seen as a 'come-on'??
5,000= miles is too far to even be considered a 'long-distance' relationship!

Thank you. I've got some chat buddies on a wapsite who I've been chatting/mailing/talking to for about 4 years. I realize how the same phrase or word can have a completely different meaning as well as how differently we interpret and react to the same situation. 'Preciate the rescue and will follow your advice.

Well, you're a very sexy young lady, so winking at you is perhaps quite a normal thing to do, and not to be seen as a willingness to enter into any kind of relationship. I doin't wink at people online, but I sometimes wink and smile at a pretty girl walking down the street, so it's probably no different than that.
Saying all that, now that I've seen how pretty you are, I'm gonna wink at you, and please feel free to wink back!

Chevy your so good looking that you shouldn't be surprised if there is life on another planet you will probably get a wink from there to. This is not a solicitation.

if you wink back it means you are interested in talking to and getting to know a bit more about the person, but if you're not interested then don't wink back.

unfornately you can't avoid culture differences but I can't see how winking could be deemed offensive
take it from me, if someone winks at you on this site (or any other site) it means they like your profile and would like to get to know abit more about you.
If it was offensive do you think site admin would provide the facility in the first place!
....stay cool..

Well my 2 cents - The guys in UK are more down to earth and not posing to be someone they aren't (they just don't give a damn, they are who they are) some of my best friends (loyal, caring, funny) come from the UK. And the accent is to dye for. So for the winks from across the pond...... Kuddo's

Totaly agree with Blondino its a big compliment, if your not interested then so be it, its just a way of breaking the ice. It takes nothing to just take the time and say thanks but no thanks.
