kids knocked on doors in our street collecting penny for the guy
is it just me or is it to early
Must be the recession. 
They knock your doors?
They don't do that here, they just wait outside shop doorways.
It was fun years ago when it truly was 'a penny for the guy.'
But these days, they ask you for a penny, and if you give them anything less than a tenner, they're likely to slit your throat.
