Ash, you're single because you don't want to settle
You, more than others, have a fairy tale fantasy of how things should be. Ever since you were a kid, you've probably dreamed of the perfect wedding, coming home to a white picket fence, dog, and 2.2 kids (how does that work, anyway?). When someone asks what you're looking for, you don't skip a beat: You're likely to have a handy checklist that details your perfect partner. Hair and eye color, height, religion, education, career, interests, the list goes on.
While it's great to have standards — Hey, you shouldn't have to settle, after all — there's one slight glitch in your master plan: No one has made the grade in real life — at least not yet. Next time you're out with someone, keep yourself from mentally checking that list, and give love — and others — a chance. That special someone who you've written off may be perfect for you after all...

Ever since you were a kid, you've probably dreamed of the perfect wedding, coming home to a white picket fence, dog, and 2.2 kids (how does that work, anyway?). When someone asks what you're looking for, you don't skip a beat: You're likely to have a handy checklist that details your perfect partner. Hair and eye color, height, religion, education, career, interests, the list goes on.

Live alone and like it, thanks very much. Well, at least some of the time. You prefer coming and going as you please, and you don't like to be controlled or held responsible for someone else's schedule or needs. After all, you probably have plenty of friends, a satisfying career (or other projects to occupy your time), and you may simply not have room for another person right now — unless of course they can bend to meet your routine exactly. Does this sound familiar?
I'll take the Fifth! No, it's partly true. 
While we admire your go-it-alone attitude — and your carefree, open-minded spirit — you may be shutting out others from your life without realizing it. You never know, maybe if you met the right person you could learn to grow together — while holding onto your hard-earned independence.
Pretty spot on and much the same thing that friends have been telling me for XX years. But I guess that applies to many singles, right folks?

Why sure Alec....actually, I'm afraid that's a lot closer for me too, than the one I ended up with...fairy tale wedding fantasies are SO not me, and never were!
p.s. if you're not already writing for a living, you should be. Your blog entries are hilarious (it takes awhile to read them as I have to attempt to translate into American, but it's worth it).

Ah...'American.' Did you know that your esteemed President has publicly stated that (and I quote):
"I love language. I like to think of it as the epidemic road less travelled by cunnilinguists. For example, I'm taking classes in Amurkan. Amurkan, for the uniliterated, is a 21st century form of gibberish, an arcane tongue having words of only two syllables that eschews regular verbs, or — like, any verbs."
But as he is also alleged to have said:
"When I was growing up, it was a dangerous world, and you knew exactly who the bad guys was. It was them versus us, and it was clear who them was. Today, we are not so sure who them are, or where they are, but we know they're there, and we will keep on looking for them until we find them, because we're Americans and we know stuff like that."
I'd take that with a pinch of salt if I were you.

Apparently I'm picky but I'm not picky in the way this shows me to be. These results show a lot of superficial stuff that I really couldn't care less about.

I'm single because I don't want to commit.
Once the blush of first love wears off with your partners, do you get a little antsy? You probably crave excitement in all realms of your life, and you need a relationship to keep you filled with possibilities. Let us guess: Someone has probably told you that you haven't quite grown up yet, that you're still holding out for the perfect "whatevers" (job, car, home, date) in your life to come a knockin'. Or perhaps you're just having a difficult time accepting that your comfortable little place in this world is always growing, always evolving — and that means you have to be willing to accept big life changes, too. Not that there's anything wrong with that. After all, you're probably a lot of fun to be around and may be the life of the party.
But when it comes to settling down, you leave without looking back twice. Now's the time to ask yourself: Why? What's holding you back? Maybe you don't want someone to get to know you fully? Perhaps by saying "yes" to someone, you're afraid you'll lose yourself, or the possibility of something better coming along. Just remember that the best relationships are those that never stop growing. That's something you can identify with, right? So keep that in mind next time you find someone you're really comfortable with. You never know, it may prove even more exciting once you really get to know each other, teensy flaws and all
