I don't know that one, but I'll make something up. It's Teddy Roosevelt, and he wrote Tennyson-like narratives about going on safari.
Do I get points for creativity? (Now that I've thought, I think it's going to be Carter...)
Next question: name either the current or the last Poet Laureate of the United States.

Lets see Dana...I know the current Poet Laureate is Ted Kooser; in Nebraska. I also know that Abraham Lincoln was a poet. I win, I win??

I don't know about T. Roosevelt writing poetry, but Alfred Lord Tennyson was a poet, we was famous for his poem "Lady of Shallot" published in 1832

I think we're all right, excluding, of course, poor old Teddy! Jimmy Carter's published several books of poetry, but I can't vouch for anyone else. Did Washington write poetry?

at least I found some Abraham Lincoln poems
I range the fields with pensive tread,
And pace the hollow rooms,
And feel (companion of the dead)
I'm living in the tombs.
Abraham Lincoln, "My Childhood Home I See Again"
To ease me of this power to think,
That through my bosom raves,
I’ll headlong leap from hell’s high brink,
And wallow in its waves.
Though devils yell, and burning chains
May waken long regret;
Their frightful screams, and piercing pains,
Will help me to forget.
Abraham Lincoln, "The Suicide’s Soliloquy"
And furious now, the dogs he tears,
And crushes in his ire,
Wheels right and left, and upward rears,
With eyes of burning fire.
But leaden death is at his heart,
Vain all the strength he plies.
And, spouting blood from every part,
He reels, and sinks, and dies.
Abraham Lincoln, "The Bear Hunt"
You are young, and I am older;
You are hopeful, I am not—
Enjoy life, ere it grow colder—
Pluck the roses ere they rot.
Abraham Lincoln, "To Rosa"

I doubt bush is much of a poet .....not intelligent enough.
but look at it like this .. I am sure every president at sometime in his life tried to write poetry . wether is be to impress some lady . or just for a class ... I have been writing for years and still enjoy it . best way to bare feelings but safe since i keep them to me . for the most part that is.
Angel remeber this baring your soul in poetry isa great escape for thosetimes you feel so down or just wantto let something out but do not know if appropiate where you are . I used to write on backs of cigarette packs . on the inside wrappers . or even napkins in restaurants ... and i still have them all tucked away in boxes where they are safe. but I can still reach out and regain thattime if I wish from my poems

A fourteener is a Petrarchan sonnet.
