Well, of course.
When I think of what I used them for I will be back. Oh I have used them for putting my cookies on when they come out of the oven. That was before I bought some racks.
To clean with, polish the car,,,,etc...

Me too Ready...I have an antique small trunk just for those old towels and T-shirts. I do a lot of silver and brass polishing and they works so great....I use baker's towels also in the kitchen when I make breads and pastries to cover them up with when they done or when waiting for dough to rise.

I have never liked the newer, Terry Cloth Dish Towels. I prefer the large, thick cotton ones like mom and grandmom use to use. Its hard to find them anymore. They were so much more versitile than the newer ones. Found one in an antique store that had a 1950's sticker on it for .39 cents. If anyone knows where I can find the older ones, or has some they just want rid of, let me know.

I have some that I used to drain things on like french fries or okra if I fry them. I lay them over bread or cakes while they cool. They dry my kid's faces, they dry my hands.....alot of uses!

Somebody PLEASE enlighten me. Are they called: Dish Towels, Kitchen Towels, Tea Towels or Cup Towels? I have even heard them referred to as "cum rags". I know they are all the same, I think, but how did they get so many names? Anyone else have any other name for them???

Heaveninawildflower, what all do you use the flour sack dish towels for? The sound great. Most of the dish towels I have are 40-50 years old and still in great shape. They do not make them like that anymore, they are so useful for so many things. I even have a dress made of them and its gorgious.

When I was a kid my Mom made my sister and I some sundresses out of dish towels...too funny! I use towels to cover my bread and pies when they need to cool. I have some great embroidered and vintage towels from both my great -grandmothers, that I only use as decorative pieces now...So Retro! And what about those old aprons? I have many of those also, and I wear them proudly remembering my Grammies who always wore them. Sweet memories!

You are so right, mejaneyoutarzan, I have very fond memories of those days. My mother would let me "help" her do the dishes, she would take one of the large dish towels, wrap it around me like an apron and let me get wet and sudsy. I even have some old aprons and pillow cases made out of the vintage dish towels, like you said, so retro and in style now. I remember they only use to cost about .39 cents each. Now on ebay, they are around ten dollars each. I don't think we will ever see that with the terry cloth in the future.

If you look at the material the old diapers were made of, it was almost the same as the old dish towels. I think the old dish towels would have made better and more colorful diapers than the old diapers. I have had to use them in a pinch for diapers also.(lol)

I use them as pot holders. I've used them as a whip. There is always the favorite cumrag. I've done the diaper deal. When my neice was born she was too small for a diaper (under 4lbs). They wrapped her in towels for the first month.
