I was asked to post this here.. so here goes..
I've lost 6 pounds!
I cant say its been easy, my doctor told me that during the 'M', weight loss is much more difficult, but I have persevered.
How am I doing it?
I have cut out bad fats. thats it. Thats all I have done.
Bad fats are in fried foods.. cakes..biscuits.. full fat dairy..and under the skin of chicken. I stop the temptation of eating the skin by skinning it before I cook it. I put lots of coating on instead to get a good flavour. Coatings like my Portuguese chicken coating.. to make it tasty. No fat.. no oil.. just lemon juice.. paprika, garlic salt and chilli mixed to a thick paste and spread on the chicken.
Last night I had low fat tuna fish cakes.. they're delicious.
1 large can of tuna, 1 large (baking size) potato, and a tea spoon of dried parsley. Boil and mash the potato,, mix with the tuna and parsley and dry fry on both sides till brown. makes 2 large cakes. you can use fresh fish if you want.
Low fat bolognese. can of chopped tomatoes, garlic, oregano and basil. add to boiled and drained ground beef which has been floured after boiling and cooling, stir till hot and thicker and put on whole grain spaghetti.
Low fat mushroom sauce. wash the mushrooms and roll in flour. put in milk and heat with some salt or 1/2 a veg bullion stock cube. stir till thickened. pour over meat or fish.
Low fat Pizza. boil a sweet potato, mash and add some wholegrain flour, with a little olive oil. roll to a flat base. cook slowly on low till you get the crispiness you want. Top with tomato puree. oregano and basil, lay on layers of any topping you like, but be careful of the hidden fat in pepperoni. ham is better. and be sparing with cheese.
Taking out the fat in my diet has done wonders.. I am feeling much more energetic and I am enjoying the food.
I have a goal which I am determined to reach.
I eat fruit BEFORE a meal, as fruit passes through the gut quicker and aids the digestion of the meal to follow.
I drink plenty of water.. (boring I know) and I have just 1 glass of wine with my dinner.
Looking forward to losing the next 6 pounds!!!!
anyone want to lose weight too? its easier than counting calories.. units points.. and bought in diets can be very expensive.. like Nutrasystem etc.

Heres an example of one days food for me on my low fat diet.
Breakfast. 1 banana mashed on to a wholegrain toast. or bran flakes with 2% milk.
Mid morning.. some cherries or grapes a small bottle of water.
Lunch salad with either egg ham or chicken. Make my own dressing. Lemon and ginger is great. Bottle of water
Dinner.. one of my low fat recipes.1 glass of white wine.

Youre right choos. I know the UK have an obesity problem like here in the states, but there seems to be far more fat free sugar free and organic produce in the UK.
For instance.. I cant buy no added sugar orange juice anywhere here!.. I can get reduced sugar but not no added sugar. Ive even looked in a health food store called Sun harvest which is like Holland and Barrat, and they dont sell it either.
Theres a good supply of organic fruit and veg here, but canned organic food is not common.. in Asda for instance you can get an organic alternative to practically anything.. but not here. I am still looking for stock cubes here that dont have MSG in them! and its proving to be difficult. Gregg reacts badly to msg and gets violent headaches with it.

I cant buy no added sugar orange juice anywhere here!. So how come we get it here from Florida?
I am still looking for stock cubes here that dont have MSG in them! Look for 'KALLO' - They are organic and don't have any MSG,

I don't usually buy any of the 'cube' stuff, there always seems to be too much sodium for me, but you can buy organic beef broth at most supermarkets - I shop at Fry's here (the chain is Kroger's) and usually buy the Pacific brand broths -- free range organic chicken broth, etc. It's more expensive than non-organic but still not nearly as high as Wolfgang Puck's brand. I bought a quart today for a dutch oven pot roast next weekend and it was 2.27 as opposed to 2.99 for Puck's.
Oh, and thanks for the tuna cake recipe - it sounds great!

We have tons of organic foods here........there are many here that are vegan also.........most of what I buy is Organic................I don't like the bananas though........I will stick to my regular bananas
I think it all depends everyone is different........

Low fat Charlie's pie.
take some ground beef, according to how many youre feeding, and boil in water.
Drain off the water which takes the fat with it and lay it in a large baking pan.
Microwave 2 sweet potatoes and leave to cool. (more if you need to)
In a pan dry fry (no oil) some onions according to how many youre cooking for, and 2 cloves of chopped garlic. Add a can of unsalted chopped tomatoes, and some basil. dried is fine. Add some Worcester sauce and stir well. Thne pour over the meat.
Scrape out the sweet potatoes and mash them. lay the mash over the tomato sauce and beef mixture and bake until brown.
This is a really good diet recipe that even people who arent on a diet will enjoy.
