Posts: 1,026 Here's my favorite recipe for Clam Chowder. Anyone else have a good recipe?

1 Lb. Bacon cooked
8-9 Potatoes peeled and cubed
1/2 cup diced Celery
1 diced Onion
1 grated carrot
1 jalepeno pepper, diced and save some of the seeds
8 or 9 small cans or 4 big cans clams (You can add clam nectar or clam juice, but I just add the canned clams myself.)

I make mine in a crock pot, but a large pan on the stovetop will do.
First put the potatoes and water in crock pot to cook. Add the celery, onion and carrot, cooked bacon, jalepeno pepper and seeds a few hours later. I cook mine overnight. In the morning I melt 1/2 cup of butter and add 1/2 cup of flour to make a rue. Heat up some milk in microwave and add to rue, stir until thick. I usually add
cream or Half and Half to help thicken it up. If it's not thick enough I add Cremora. Yes, you read it right, Cremora. Now, add the rue, cream and Cremora to the crock pot and also the clams. Cook for a little longer to thicken it up and enjoy. I also like to add Tabasco sauce to my chowder for an extra kick.
