Here are some of my favorite recipes that also make fun gifts. there are even crafts included! try them at home yourself and tell me what you think!
Top off a Fourth of July cookout with these red white and blue dessert sauces!!
Blueberry Sauce
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2tbsp cornstarch
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 package frozen blueberries thawed and drained with juice reserved.
3 tsp bourban
in a saucepan stir lemon juice and 1/2 cup reserved juice, blending well. bring to a boil; reduce heat to low and simmer 5 minutes, stirring frequently. remove from heat and stir in blueberries and bourban. serve warm over ice cream or poundcake store in jar in refridgerator
Cherry sauce
1 can (16 ounces) pitted tart cherries drained with juice reserved.
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1 tbsp cornstarch
2 tbsp grenadine
1/4 tsp almond extract
coarsely chopp cherries, set aside. In a saucepan, combine sugar and cornstarch. Stir in 1/4 cup reserved cherry juice and grenadine, blending well. Bring to a boil; reduce heat to low and simmer 5 minutes, stirring frequently. REmove from heat, stir in cherries and almond extract. store in a jar in the fridge
White Chocolate Sauce
1 cup whipping cream
10 oz. white chocolate coarsely chopped and divided
2 tbsp light corn syrup
1/3 cup half and half
In a small saucepan, heat cream over medium heat just to boiling. REmove from heat. Reserving 1/3 cup chocolate, add remaining chocolate and corn syrup to cream. With a wire whisk, blend until smooth. Pour into a small bowl; stir in half and half. Cover and refridgerate for 3 hours. stir in remaining chocolate. serve chilled over ice cream. store in jar in fridge.
Patriotic Jars
You will need 3 1/2 pint canning jars n lids with screw rings, red ecru and blue fabric scraps, ivory red and blue spray paint; Design Master glossy wood tone spray; craft glue; two 1"w wooden stars,small ivory buttons, 23" of ecru cotton yarn, red white and blue embroadery flosses,(use 2 strands throughout) craft batting, removable fabric marking pen,black felt tip permanent pen with fine point and tracing paper.
Star Jar Lid (for cherry sauce)
1. Spray screw ring with red paint, then wood tone spray, allow to dry between coats.
2.Use flat piece of lid as a pattern and cut one circle from ecru fabric and batting.
3. Use fabric marking pen to draw a 1 3/4" wide star on right side of fabric circle. Use red floss and running stitch to stitch star. use blue floss to sew white button in center of star. remove pen lines. Glue batting to flat peice of lid. Glue fabric circle to batting along fabric edge. glue lid inside ring.
4. tear a 1/2" x 20" strip from blue cloth. Tie strip into bow around lid.
Flag Jar Lid (For Blueberry Sauce)
1. Spray screw ring with blue paint and wood tone spray allowing to dry between coats.
2. Cut a 4" square from a striped piece of fabric and a 1 3/4" square from blue fabric. Fringe edges of blue square appx. 1/8". Matching edges, place blue square on upper left corner of striped fabric to look like a flag. Use white floss and running stitch to stitch squares together along edges of blue square.
3. Using flat peice of lit as a pattern, cut one circle from flag and batting. Glue batting to flat peice of lid. Glue fabric circle to batting along fabric edge. Glue lid inside ring.
4. Spray stars with ivory paint, then wood tone spray ,allowing to dry between coats. Glue button to front of each star. Cut a 21" length of yarn; glue one star to each end of yarn. Tie yarn into bow around lid.
Heart Jar Lid (For white Chocolate Sauce)
1. Spray screw ring with ivory paint, then wood tone spray, allowing to dry between coats.
2. Use flat peice of lid as patten and cut one circle from blue fabric and batting. Glue batting to flat piece of lid. Glue fabric circle to batting along fabric edge. Glue lid inside ring.
3. Trace large and small heart pattern on tracing paper and cut out. Use patterns and cut one large heart from red fabric and cut one small heart from ecru fabric. Use black pen to write "My Country Tis of Thee" on small heart.glue large heart then small heart to lid. glue two buttons to lid.
4. to make a firecracker, cut a 1 1/4" x 3 1/2"piece of red & white plaid fabric and a 2" piece of yarn. Beginning at one short edge of fabric, tigtly wrap fabric around one end of yarn; glue to secure. glue firecracker to lid.
5. For Trim on screw ring , cut a 7/8" x 9 1/2" biece of red fabric. press long edges 1/4" to wrong side. glue strip around lid.

Keyboad Cookies
24 ounces vanilla almond bark
1 package 8.5 oz. cream filled sugar wafer cookies
6 ounces chocolate almond bark
Melt vanilla bark following package instructions. spread melted vanilla bark over 12 cookies, leaving the upper left hand corner uncoated. shake gently to remove excess and place on wax paper to cool. repeat with remaining wafers, but leaving the upper right corner uncoated. cool completely.
melt chocolate flavored bark following package instructions. with a knife carefully spread the melted candy onto the uncoated portion of each cookie to form "Black keys".
allow to cool completely and arrange in a tie box wrapped in musical note wrapping paper to look like a piano!

Wow, nice recipes jubilee. About the only culinary talent I'll be using this 4th is fill the candy jar with red ,white and blue M&Ms.
